Megane My Albi Blue 225

So i have been on here for a good few months now so i guess i better say hello officially.:dh: My name is Dave as my username suggests and i am from the Rep. of Ireland and have owned my 225 since October.

I actually really like it considering when i bought it i had never driven one and i had only seen one in the flesh ever (2 months before i bought mine). But i went to a car show here in Ireland when Turbo Ted kindly invited my mate and I down and i saw a megane 225 there and really liked the look of it. I had always liked them in pictures but i thought it look a bit beefier in the flesh, so i went on the hunt!

I bought this one from the UK and i am very happy with it, it has a few little parking dings around it but nothing a dent removal guy wont sort out, couple of other dents on the sills where some plank messed up with a jack and the wheels need a refurb, any suggestions on colour for the wheels??
It's a September 2006 Cm1v, 67k miles, full service history and completely standard. ( for now :aq:) Only needed a drop link to pass it's Irish MOT (NCT), and i changed the thermostat because it was not reaching the correct temp on the gauge, so not bad in the first 8 months.:ay:

I had an Evo 5 for 9 years before the meg, which was 360 bhp so the meg feels a little sluggish put it is deceptively quick, i think the fact that they are so quiet on the standard exhaust makes them seem slower? I also have a tungy gt turbo for the last 11 years which is the baby and will never be sold, but the meg is now my sensible daily! Seems to handle quite well out of the box which is great, but i would love to put a set of cooksports on it, i think they look way better lowered and i want an R26R spoiler too. I swore that i would not start tuning it but i already have the itch for a few bits so we will see!!

I have no record of a cambelt change in the service history so ill definitely be doing that very soon, it needs discs and pads all round and the swivel bearings have just gone, so i have a few bits to do with it. I will up date this thread as i get bits done and hopefully put my own twist on the looks of it!!

I would like to thank Andybond for twice getting the build sheet for me, and i have already found some great info on here, between people's posts and the resource section, so i better skimlink all the parts i buy!:ag:

I gave it a bit of a clean at the weekend so ill throw up a few pictures, Albi is a hard colour to photograph because it looks so different in sun and in the shade, very bright in the sun and almost purple/blue in shade, it really is a lovely colour!

Any comments, suggestions or otherwise welcome.
Thanks, Dave.

RED. The alloys deserve a bright red colour, and paint the R cspoiler the same red for badness.
I was thinking of black for the R spoiler because i like the way it ties in with the black of the rear window, i did see a clio 197 in this colour with orange wheels which i thought were nice!

Hmmm i will think about red though, i had planned for a while to put red wheels on the tungy gtt!
Good to have other suggestions though, cheers.

No real updates yet, I've been out of work for the ladt few months so I've had no money to do jobs on the car. I'm back working now though so the updates will come soon!

Had an engine management light flashing today, got it plugged into diagnostics and it looks like a faulty injector.
Question is can I replace just one or am I wasting my time or should i just get a set of 630cc ones incase i get it remapped in the future or will they overfuel on the standard map?

You cannot put in the 630s without a map. You will be in a whole new world of trouble !

I would get a new set , or send yours off for ultrasonic cleaning

Ye thought I would need a map alright. As far as I'm aware nobody in Ireland does proper injector cleaning, over here you would probably get 2 litres of diptene thrown into the tank!!
Problem is injectors are €88+ vat from my local Renault, I would get discount but I don't know how much. Hmmm. It's all money.

I assume that is each ? They are £160 here for all 4.
Yep each. Renault Irelands prices are mental for most things.
There on ebay for about £140 plus delivery. Already need discs and pads all round, water pump to go with the timing belt which i have and the hub bearings are gone too! Oh oil and filter too And road tax which is over€300 for 3 months plus two months arrears.

Bad timing for everything then ! I suppose at least its out of the way.

Cant we get some stuff for you and post it ?

Ah ye it's just because I've not been working for a few months it's all built up. But to be fair my best mate is a mechanic so i get mates rates on labour thank god.

Really kind of the offer to post stuff, thanks very much. But I wouldn't dream of asking anyone to do that, I'll get the bits from wherever can do the best price, I can drive up to the north if needs be, for better prices.

Very kind though thanks.

So i have a bit of a missfire a the moment and i checked my plugs today. They seem to be fairly new but they are bkr7eix that are fitted I understand thaye are an upgrade plug. My car is standard should i change them?
Also have ngk coils fitted so i am tempted to change them too.
Anyone got any experience or opinions on this, thanks.

Haven't updated this in a long time, trying to slowly gather up parts to do all the jobs I've let build up!!

So changed the oil and filter a few weeks ago, genuine filter and elf oil. Also got a set of genuine plugs and some new beru coils to try and cure the slight miss/cough, I think it's injectors though!!

Havent posted in ages, been busy , have done more jobs in the mean time and ill post pics etc soon.

Have a question for anyone that may know, my hazard lights wont go off at all, only way to switch them off is to disconnect the battery? I dont think its the switch, if you plug that out they stay on, also have the central locking clicking open/closed very fast 3 or 4 times every so often?
Anyone had similar?
Thanks
