Gutting to see that but I assume you rolled her going about setting a good time on a track, in that pushed to the limit style 'Colin Mcrea' was famed for, in which case it got beaten up doing what it's supposed to be used for.
I would love one of these fantastic little cars, such an iconic shape, red is also the best colour.
i have had 8 of these beasts in various states and as some of you know im building the monster of all ren fives which will ultimately lead to the selling of my beloved clio unless i get some inheritance or win lottery etc

thanks rich..i was doing 80 odd mph when the throttle stuck wide open.
got out without a scratch!! tough little car saved me. no cage and no harneses!!
Considering people have been killed in much slower accidents in much newer cars you were lucky clarkie. The only time I've had a throttle stick open was on a 1300 golf which probably had 10 bhp on a good day so I just calmly pulled over, in that R5 you must have been bricking it!
I've only ever seen a Turbo II, it was on sales pitch with old Morris Minors on the A5 in Shropshire, the R5 wasn't for sale though. The chap who owned the car lot was a really nice bloke and was quite happy to start it up for me, he was probably in his 50's I guess. They are really cool cars and I liked the fact that they are quite compact, they have that go-cart like 'back to basics' allure that many quick hatchbacks from the 80's have and what seems to be lost in modern cars.
Just wondering if thats the one JP mentioned to me [smilie=icon_eek.gif] think £15000 was mentioned with the engine and £12000 without [smilie=icon_eek.gif] Saying that i think it was a T1, expensive little cars
