Is it worth getting a map? If the new trophy r can knock 14 seconds off the ring then it might be, atp i dont know if thats just the power boost over the 275. Im a purist but im keen to know the benefits or do the disadvantages outweigh them.

Yes is the answer. Renault have to map out of the factory to cover all bases - low grade fuel , higher temps etc.
The 300 has a magic particle filter and a different turbo , but the 275 is able to get well over 300bhp with a cheeky map. @Ricardo has had his done by RSTuning and is very happy with it.

My 280 was mapped at RS Tuning within 500 miles of coming off the transporter, nearly 6k later its still going strong at 331hp and 360ft/lbs torque. The hike in torque from factory is immense it really brings the Megane alive, luckily enough I bought one pre WLTP so it doesn't have the emmisions restrictions.
The power feels just right for the chassis, I'd love to lose 130kgs in weight like the R so a Clubsport spec is something I've been thinking of i.e losing the back seats and fitting more trackday focused ones.
