Evening all, I'm in the process of ditching power assisted for good old manual steering and I think I'm having a bit of a blonde moment. Would I be rite in assuming I need the steering colum from non power assisted rack as well as have bolted it on and the uj doesn't reach, any advise greatly appreciated !!

Hi @Big Steve,

In my experience the steering rack is sleeved to allow for crash damage (so it doesnt impail you in case of an accident) so if your short of a few mm for it to reach, a slide hammer will help you pull it out that distance you need.

If you get no joy there, then it'll be down the scrappy's for a manual steering column!

Cheers buddy will have a look ! Was wondering if was possible to cut n sleeve the 1 in the car ? Never know

should do the job, ive done similar in the past on a kit car though i sleeved and welded it on a smooth part of the shaft rather than the splined section.
