MAD

Interseting, it does seem to be the case that all cars are heavier than the published numbers, I would of thought with all that stuff chopped out you would be close to your target. The standard ones must be nudging 1500kgs.

Have you considered ditching the aircon Ed? I seem to recall that with all the pipe length the system is of disproportionate weight.

Tough call Ed.

It would be a shame to miss out on OrigineRS track time and the process might give you a 'steer' (no pun intended) to your next phase of development.

Any news on the suspension though? This could be done beforehand..
; )

The original idea was to use the track time to give me a benchmark before the engine and transmission work, so is probably the most sensible direction.

I'm thinking with the suspension I would be best to wait as I fancy a change of spring rate and it would be best to finalise the mass beforehand.
Also it seems pretty well sorted at the moment, it's on rails compared to my ph 2 (that's pretty reasonable too) so again some track time would let me know exactly what I'm starting with.

The aircon is still there at the moment, I was hoping that if the finished article is quick enough I may like to keep it, just to make using it a more comfortable experience ! At this stage I didn't want to find myself re installing it at a later date.

Do you have the opportunity to take it on track before ORS.? If not, perhaps stick to your original plan and use the day to discover/learn more of the car 'as is' before going further..?

Besides... we'd miss you at Origine RS ;)

Looks like it's ORS then.
I did think about getting out before but thought ORS would be something to aim for, just wasn't expecting to be this far ahead!
I'll use the time to catch up on some other stuff.
I haven't been able to make ORS before, be good to catch up.

Just going back to the wrap, this isnt your car by chance is it :

Pretty sure it's not mine, I believe mine had the spoiler, wheels, seats, diffuser etc. etc. when it was wrapped. Unless anyone knows different ?
I really liked the matt black wrap but Dan who I bought it from had so many potential buyers want the wrap removed that I was just too late to stop him.
If ( big 'if' ) my project goes as planned, last on the list is a change of colour.

Yeah i loved the wrap.
What was it like close up?

I remember seeing a Focus RS500 at Malton this year back in easter and the quality was terrible despite it being an official Ford supply.
Suppose experience comes into it with wraps.

That's disappointing 1360Kg

Listed in the knowledge base at 1355Kg

A standard Ph1 must be way more than 1355Kg
My oem seats, interior trim, soundproof stuff, outer engine cover, all airbags, seat belts etc. etc. have gone.
Will get my Son's Ph 1 weighed at sometime just out of interest.

My target weight of 1200Kg is looking hard to attain.

Got my son's 'oh so lovely, super clean' OEM Mars phase 1 on the weighbridge yesterday 1380 Kg
Perhaps mine just needs the dirt washed off !!!

Perhaps one had a full petrol tank and the screen washer bottle weighs 10kg full of water :)

oh and.... 15 litres of antifreeze is not something I could lift!

:) Similar fluids on board

I've found the discussion about weight interesting.

I was on the same lines as Duncan assuming all Manufacturers figures are polished and a phase 2 may be pushing 1500kg.

One of the points I was interested to see about my car during the corner weighting was the overall weight of the car.

I'll have to double check but I think with a full fuel tank and all other fluids brimmed it came in at 1380kg (will double check later in the week to see if this was the figure minus fuel)

Either way it was lighter than I expected. Changes that may have contributed are steering wheel, seats, seat brackets, flywheel, suspension maybe... that's all I could think of!

Either way I was happy with anything in the 1300's.

Looking at my car I think the metalwork for the diffuser and the chunk of fibreglass for the trophy spoiler could be adding a lot

Nothing to report ! The car came back from ORS and went straight onto the ramp and there it's stayed.
Was pleasanly surprised how it performed on track but came home with a bit of a diff bearing noise.
No time at all so far, but asap the engine and box will be out.

Why not save more weight Ed? Ditch the boat anchor motor and chocolate teapot gearbox and fit the VQ35! Lol
