MAD

Wet afternoon spent in the garage today, thinking what I would like to do:-
Reduce the rear end weight
Lower the centre of gravity
Increase the power
Strenghen the transmission
Have a choice of ratios and diffs.
Turbo
ECU with switchable maps, anti lag and launch control.
I must have nodded off and been dreaming !
Then thought of RSC suspension and decided it was a nightmare.

This car is getting heavier rather than lighter, just fabricating four extra rear subframe mountings to stiffen things up a bit

A Turbo and PK06 gearbox is the type of ingredients ISIS are looking to get there hands on.....BoooooOOOOom!

Thanks Dave may well do, have a few ideas but want to get all the mechanical sorted before I give more than a passing thought to the electronics complication !

The new modular ECU has a drive-by-wire add in too, so no converting to cable throttle. As soon as they add support for cruise control i'm upgrading!

Been working hard this month to make some progress. Subframe done and some extra work on the engine stabiliser. Got some stuff going on with the drive shafts. Engine will have about 280 bhp to start with initially just to see how things are going to work but massive potential for big increase !
My earlier thoughts of an electric power steering pump have been shelved for now and I will now keep the fuel tank in it's mid position all be it of a smaller capacity.
Not good on remembering to take photos but i'll get something up soon.
Progress slowed slightly for a while now due to sticking my finger in the angle grinder. [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Too much time to look in the motorsport catalogues, now have dry break couplings on power steering and clutch lines.
I'm expecting the motor to be 'in and out' quite a lot so thought this will save time and fluid loss.
Really enjoying this !

Thought you might like this Brett, engine and box been mounted up since end of March, drive shafts arrived last Thursday, built them up yesterday. Will spend the next week cleaning all that CV grease off my hands !
Probably going to have a bit of a break from it for now as lot of other stuff going on. Will still be collecting bits and having ideas and then more ideas. Maybe stuff like measuring for the petrol tank and gear cables so I can get them underway.

No L7X but should be able to tick off everything on my wish list.

Have to admit, I don't recognise the end of that box even if the end is missing. I'm guessing its something similar to a Hewland or the like. I looked at Audi, Porsche, Subaru, Hewland and a couple of others but couldn't find anything that would allow me to fit a 3cyl long engine down the car with decent driveshaft angles. That is unless I cut ot the front cross member behind the fuel tank. You have done incredibly well!! If you haven't cut the member out my money is on a Subaru lump.
