Loss of Brake Pressure

I lightly applied my brakes whilst approaching a roundabout, there was a quiet 'pop' sound and the brake pressure almost completely went. They still work, but only right down at the bottom of the pedal. The handbrake has also gone very loose.

The fluid level is prefect, the brake hoses all appear to be fine, am I looking at failure of the master cylinder or brake booster?

Any help will be appreciated!

Blimey that sounds a bit scary. not heard of this before so cant help. If its the hand break as well, perhaps its something related to the rear calipers?

It certainly was mate, I'm only thankful that I wasn't braking hard!

Its in at the garage tomorrow so will report back when I know what happened. It's gutting considering I recently spent multi thousands on the old girl.

was Friday the 13th mind, lucky to get away with that. As the handbrake is mechanical it cannot be a leak, and said fluid level fine anyway. Were the rear pads old? wondering if a lining has detached from the rear of the pad maybe? If you hadn't mentioned the loose handbrake then would have said its the servo or the vacuum pipe from engine to servo.
