5 GT Turbo Long lost Raider

brakes are now bled and feel solid, been going over the last few bits pre MOT

rear number plate light isnt working, the horn relay only clicks when horn button pressed. The compressor works fine when given a direct 12v

loads of shit wiring removed and rewired correctly. Cleaned up all the earths and the dash lights and exterior lights now lovely and bright

i then need to correctly plumb the actuator and vaccum hoses in the bay, plus get a wide band on it. It was running 23psi, but i have dumped the gt tuning group a carb, and fitted a stock carb. I've also removed the gt tuning in car bleed valve.

fingers crossed it'll be roadworthy before the weather turns to shit!

Noticed some other bits the other day the old thing needs. One brake line has rubbed a coilover, so new braided lines onIMG-20190919-WA0023.webp

Also a top mount bolt had previously snapped, so new one on

Also, might as well change front discs, pads and track rod ends

And finally, a new genuine alternator belt and reserve tank strap. DSC_1594.webpIMG-20190919-WA0024.webp

It's slowly edging closer to seeing the road

So i gave up trying to get time off to recommission the raider, i have the week of xmas off and i'm going to be working on my o.e. red ph2

thankfully i came across a local guy who was happy to help me out and has a workshop, so in exchange for some parts and pennies his way, he's sorting the old frenchie

he even collected it for me!

it's in the company of his two 5's

i've given him some new front discs and pads (yes...thats green stuff, i dont know what i was thinking but its period for the car) track rod ends, stainless brake hoses and just a going over.

best bit is, under neath is clean and just needs a wire brush. Thankfully being dry stored all these years has kept it solid, just a bit of poor jack placement which can be straightened

what it is going to need is setting up, the carb is completely stock as i took the shitty group a gt tuning carb off it.
it also looks like it might have a stock size downpipe, even though i have a receipt for a gt tuning one. So it's going to need a AFR gauge and some carb fettling. Not sure if i'll end up doing this as i'm not experianced with carbs, but it can't be that hard?....can it?

if the down pipe is stock, i fancy a larger one, but dont fancy shelling out hundreds of pounds for one. The car owes me an awful lot for what it is

any idea's where to find a decent downpipe? i'll measure the one of the car today and see if it is the gt tuning one they used to sell, it has gt tuning EVERYTHING so i'd be shocked if it's standard

Great read, looks 100 times better with those new Prima wheels on, really suits it. Hope sill can be sorted, cant believe people jack these up on the sills and bend the lip which then
rusts, front subframe, chassis rails or rear axle on trailing arm end for jacking defo...

quick update, i wont bore you with the hundreds of small job's it's needed, and there is still a few more left to do before i can take it out and floor it/enjoy it.

BUT.....a MOT is booked for 5pm today. God knows if it'll pass or not, but i can't see it having any major problems (famous last words!)
if anything, at least i'll know what it needs

So today has been a ball ache!

Can someone please explain to me why on earth if I turn my headlights on, the frigging engine cuts out!?

And if I turn the lights on with the ignition on, the fuel pumps start running!.. What the hell.

I've sorted what I thought was all the electrical issues, most being modifications. Like stereo wiring, fan switch, intercooler spray wiring. Also there was loads of earth's on the passenger left pillar for god knows what, I sorted all those and I finally got all the lights and speedo lights back.

The car has a old school Clifford alarm that I have no idea how to use. It has remote start, turbo timer and all sorts of shite. I'm not sure if this is the issue, or more earth's need attending to?

Great news on mot

Wiring I would start with the basics testing the alternator voltages, battery, associated relays and earth points ;)

I hate wiring but hopefully something easy to find
