Locking Pins

Hi all,

So my cambelt service is coming up at the end of this month but the Renault dealership doesn't have the locking pins kit. They have phoned around asking other Renault dealerships in the area if they have the kit but so far no luck finding a set.

They also ordered a set of the locking pins around April this year (at my request) but nothing has arrived yet. They said they normally use M12 bolts as replacements for the locking pins and did so recently when servicing an Espace with a V6.

If anyone has a set of locking pins, could you share the sizes of the pins and do you think a M12 bolt is a suitable replacement for a locking pin?

Thanks

I can't answer about the M12 bolts, but they probably know there's a pulley setting tool required as well, using just the pins won't work.

Thanks for the reply James, much appreciated. Sometimes I wonder how much they really know about the Vee, especially with so few being sold here.

I have faith in the mechanic, he was trained on the V6 at Renault in France. The problem is he no longer works at a Renault dealership, hence my search for the tools.
