Pretty now, caveat emptor!
Totally agree, I never understand why people spend ages masking when as you say it is quicker normally just to remove the offending item! Lights, glass (in rubber seals, not bonded) and aerials are my personal bug bears! This one has all the hallmarks of a quick blow over to get it out the door, not a paint shop that could be trusted with a car that is of this apparent value!recoverysolutions":22u81umn said:That's not restored ,that's a quick paint job to sell on ! .I have been in the car job for 30 yrs as a mechanic and doing strip and fit in body shops and i am still amazed at painters masking everything up when it doesn't take a lot longer to strip it properly and do the job right ,even down to rusty top mounts and headlight bolts ! It makes me feel a lot better about the condition of my car .
More likely you will see polished out lines where the masking has been removed, if the colour has not been faded out across a join you will see two clearly defined colours where new meets old etc etc. A good body shop is worth its weight in gold for preparation and application of tricky colours such as J37 Jaune Sirius (LY to us in the UK) which will vary considerably with the density of application, even common or garden metallic basecoats can cause grief. In the 80s Ford would have a base colour with 20 or more variant shades which caused even greater problems, Diamond White being one of the worse to match, get it right under artificial light in the booth, looks perfect, take it outside, one look and back into the booth to try again!! Nightmare :rofl:Rossington":qqdnuant said:Will the tell-tale signs not be on the doors for example?
If you went to see it and opened a door, surely the colour on the inside won't match the outside?
Under the bonnet and the boot lid as other examples?

Also on Fleabay, strong money but a nice car now, heavy mileage as it has done some 15k more than mine, good news if it sells but I would doubt it, £30k would be nearer the mark! Looked worse than mine and that is saying something
