Hi,

Are the front wishbones / arms on a clio v6 phase 2 the same as a clio 172 or 182? mine have slight corrosion on them and before i strip to get powder coated are replacemnts availble at a reasonable price?

Im also looking for some front brake caliper parts. Cross over pipes, bleed nipples and caliper retaining pins.

One last thing, are the headlights a match for another model of clio or V6 specific ?

Cheers

Not sure on the front wishbones, but can tell you that the headlights are shared with the 2ltr clio.

If you have an early ph2 v6, your headlights are shared with the 172 phase 2 or if you have a late v6 they are shared with the 182.

The headlights are interchangeable, but have different colour inserts, so its nicer to find the right coloured ones.

the headlights are NLA new from Renault.

Front brake parts, like bleed nipples and pad pins and spring can be bought from AP Racing stockist. The caliper is a variant of CP6600.

If your seats have silver coloured dots, you need Clio 182 headlight with grey coloured inserts. Otherwise it’s 172 headlight with black inserts.

My car is 53 plated, [v6plaque]40[/v6plaque] and has black insert headlight. If your car has earlier number, good chance it has black insert too.

I highly doubt wishbones are shared, but I've been surprised before!
Front wishbones are standard but the balljoint is unique to the Ph2 so as long as your original ball joints are OK they can be moved over to new wishbones, Trouble is balljoints are no longer available OEM but I do have replacements if you need them ;)

Yep wishbones are shared, as are tie rods and tie rod ends. Balljoints are not - bit weird really don't know why they did that as the rest of the hub is the same other than the bit the balljoint fits in.

Just my opinion here, I would not coat the wishbones, or any chassis part for that matter with plastic to refurbish them, i would however clean them up and paint them with chassis paint.
In my very limited experience the plastic coating when broached will allow water in but not out, this gives rise to corrosion under the plastic that goes unnoticed until its too late.
Remember, this information was acquired while sweeping up!

Difference in castor angle

The main reason they made the unique front lower ball joints on the Clio V6 was because they had to "marry" two different ball joint fitment designs. They used standard Mk2 Clio wishbone pans which had the 2 inline outer bolt fixings which would normally take a standard Clio ball joint with a plain shank with side groove for a clamp bolt to fit to the standard Clio upright. But they had to mate that Clio wishbone pan to the larger Laguna V6 / Renault Traffic uprights which use a tapered bore & is secured with a nut on the threaded end above the taper on the ball joint. They had to "marry" the wishbone & upright together as they had never been used together before in the Renault range. They also had to make the ball joints left & right handed so they could achieve the correct caster angles. Like most V6 specific parts I guess they made very few spares as the production run was so low hence why they are NLA from Renault.
