LHD Phase 1 - on eBay for £9K

Guess trying to extract the VIN would be the only way forward then, and store it away for historical purposes, especially if this indeed is UK #400.

Just because it's Cat B doesn't mean it cannot be repaired, just that the stupid CAT system here says it legally shouldn't be. Plenty of old cars (D type Jags, GT40s, Ferraris, Elans and so many race cars etc etc) have been rebuilt from what would now be called Cat A (or worse), However it really does need an expert to check that it's been done properly. If SG said it was safe, I'd have no issues (other than taste) about buying it.
I'm surprised they're trying to sell a LHD here when they command better money on the continent where they don't use (or worry about) our CAT system.

Cat B are to be dismantled for salvage spares and the shell destroyed, this is applicable to vehicles that have become the result of an insurance claim and invariably police involvement. Cat A are regularly the vehicles that involve fatalities and are for that reason only for crushing, there is nothing worse than Cat A! Race cars and high value historics are down to economics and may well be controlled by a different insurance compared with road risks.

Back to the car above, the listing has been changed, it looks like the seller has had paperwork confiscated by Mr Plod so no longer being sold as road legal ' cat b, no logbook, invoice only' probably only any good for export and then no title so really track or scrap! Think the £9k is a bit optimistic

Now off fleabay, seems that according to the listing 'best offer accepted' lets hope that it has gone where it can't do any more harm, poor thing

The orange horror show [v6plaque]400[/v6plaque] has resurfaced in the Netherlands for sale.

It intially went to Lithuania late 2014, but then entered the Netherlands in 2018.

€ 37,000! I hope who ever buys it does their research.

Unless they do their research, whoever buys that is in for a real shock...they probably weren't planning on paying 28% more than it was listed for in 2014.

Did notice on the same site a Ph1 with 340,000 km on it and still expecting €45,000! That must include repatriation from the moon!
