Lakes tour 2014 - Saturday 21st June

Have fun all! I briefly toyed with the idea of blasting up at 7am this morning, but have too much stuff I need to do at home.

Lots of photos please!!

Big shout out to Colin and Phill for arranging an awesome day, and to all of you for making us feel so welcome!

Finally back and getting over driving to and from the Lake District from London in one day, the standoff with the coach driver before the Kirkstone Pass, and the noise and flames from the supercharged 172 (320).

Hope you all had safe travels, already looking forward to this time next year!

Ajit

Had a fantastic day thanks to the local organisation, couldn't have been better, roads, weather and best of all......the people, these events seem to bring the best out of individuals and it is humbling to be part of such on outstanding club, James, you should be rightly proud. Thanks!!

Must say me and the mrs had an amazing time, once again spending time with some great people and as relative noobies made us feel very welcome.

Highlight of the day was when my heart started beating again after that crazy drive through coniston trying to keep up with phil, the two loony trophies, and colins twitchy back end. Thoroughly terrifying but the most fun I've had in years.

Bring on the next one.

Thanks again,

Andy and Joy.

Just got home! What a day. 274 miles from home to home, and a massive massive grin on our faces.

Probably drove the car harder today than I ever have done. Thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone's cars just lapped up the... Errrr ebuse lol  Got to say mossy and Matt in the trophies were having an absolute blast in the trophies and the vees just didn't stand a chance of keeping up, we did give it a good shot however. One sudden crest was very hairy as the back end went light and floaty! [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Nice to see all the old faces again and great to meet new ones! Kudos to Ajit and Charlotte for making the mammoth trek from London and back in one day! That's the spirit! And was great to meet Craig and his Dad and the amazing 'charged sunflower.

The day was rounded off by a lovely meal and a pint, and great conversation with great people. Thanks to everyone who came and we will see you again next year

When your getting low on fuel and you see the oasis in the distance, the garage closed sign was ironic!

The Reims of the Lake District??

It was my first V6 meet & i really enjoyed it, cant wait for the next one. Thanks for having me & my dad for the day, ill be in the vee for the next meet :-) it was nice to meet everyone who all made it a great day, seeing that many vee's driving about was epic.

Class day. Big thanks to Phil and Col. :salut:

Good to see some Trophy action also. Made me miss my old tomato car. Dam you [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Love Craigs sunflower too. Mental

Big respect for the members who travelled from far and wide to make the meet :salut:

Great to see a few newer members and hope you all enjoyed the day. Nice to see the 'old' friends and great to catch up and hope to see everyone again in a few weeks at Kimbo. Highlight must be Craig's mad sunflour beast with 320BHP!!!! Looks absolutely mint :salut:

[smilie=thanks.gif] to Phill & Colin for sorting such a great day just a shame I couldn't make it for the afternoon session.

Did anyone get some photos? I've only taken a few but didn't turn out too good!!

Phil

We'll another great day despite us losing quite a few of the convoy for the scenic Buttermere part of the route [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

It turned out OK when we met up again at Honister Slate mine

Big respect must go to those that travelled such long distances to attend some there and back in a day [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Probably the best weather we have had with no hint of any rain

As requested the pace was upped in some places :race: where the trophy's as expected showed just how good they are 8)

Thanks to all that attended and made it such a successful day [smilie=yay.gif]

Cheers,

Phill

I'll just echo what everyone has said, cracking day, very nice drive and awesome people. The cars all behaved aswell, 2 years in a row without any coil failures? Oh, Craig did loose his oil cover part of engine cover which was strange.
Looking forward to the next meet already.

As for getting lost, does this make it even now Colin? Although last year I got 3 of us lost, this year you managed 10 ;p

Iv added some photos that my mate took at the slate mine. Unfortunately it's the only ones we got :(

Is there V-Power available on the route?

Ings isn't a Shell garage definately (possibly Esso), there's a Shell garage in Kendal though before you get to Ings if you want to fill up there.

I remember we had to stop for fuel on-route last year in Keswick and to be honest it isn't that easy when there's 15 to 20 cars in a convoy !!!!

It's a vee petrol station:

Love that pic! Forgot how much my old acid stood out even in a garage full of vee's!
Hope u had a great weekend. Hopefully I will be back next year.
