La Vie en Blue

Next weekend, 24th and 25th May is the Bugatti Owners club La Vie en Blue meeting at Prescott. As well as being a Renault heratige event with over 60 classic and sporting renaults and Alpines expected, there is also a hillclimb event on the Sunday in which I am entered, in the spider, as well as 2 other spiders including star driver Michele Leclere as the official Renault driver. Should also mention the 4 (at least) Bugatti Veyrons that will be there including the works example driven by Pierre Henri Raphanel. Should be a good weekend.
More details at www.bugatti.co.uk

Have to say a dont know on that front but it is a Renault H & C event so that may be the case. Most of us competing will be in the paddock on Sunday but we plan to be on the Renault stand on Saturday. Best advice is head for the Renault flags and paly it by ear..

How much are tickets for the event?

Also if i choose to attend for 1 day would you reccomend sat or sun?

Cheers.

Ok... thanks. If you get any further info, please would you mind letting me know? Thanks Mark..

OK this is from Stephen Dell at the RAOC:

OK here's an update for everyone:

Firstly to clarify this a TWO day event. Although the racing only takes place on place on Sunday, the French Club stands including the Renault Heritage Area will be open on Saturday.

This is especially relevant if you are a competitor as you won't get much of a chance to look around on Sunday when you are racing. In addition last year the scurtineers carried out noise tests and pre-inspections on Saturday so there was time to rectify any problems.

So if you are a competitor best to come both days, but if you are a spectator and have to choose one day only then the Renaults are only racing on Sunday, but the club stands will be there both days.

Regarding tickets, last year tickets were only taken at the paddock gate, so you were able to park on the club stand and then you were asked for tickets when you went over into the paddock. This meant that on Sautrday you did not necessarily need a ticket if you did not go and watch the non-Renault racing. HOWEVER things may have changed this year and you may need a ticket both days regardless of whether you watch the racing. You can buy them on the day though and by the time you take the booking fee and delivery cost into account there is only 50p saving. So up to you if you want to take a chance. Alternatively play it safe and fair and buy a weekend ticket. I may have a better idea on Friday when I go up to set up. You can always call me on 07956495773.

CELEBRITY DRIVER

Renault Heritage are sending H&C Classic Team driver Michel Leclere but he will only be competing on Sunday 25th. Most of you will have seen Michel driving the A443 Le Mans car or RE40 Formula 1 car at Donington.
I expect he will be happy to give autographs and we will have souvenir postcards available for that purpose.

CLASSES

All entrants will stay in their original numbered classes as entered. i.e. 6 pre-71 saloon cars,7 pre-71 sports cars,8 post-71 saloon cars or 9 post-71 sports cars

TYRES

We have made arrangements for all RAOC members and/or Renault Heritage Trophy 2008 entrants in classes 6,7,8 & 9 to run tyre free.
i.e. List 1A or List 1B or Legal Road Tyres etc
I do not know what arrangements (if any) other entrants in these classes have made.

PARTICIPATING CLUBS

The following clubs members have all agreed to park in the Renault Heritage Area and will recieve the additional benefits detailed later:

Renault Alpine Owners Club
Renault Classic Car Club
Venturi Owners Club
Renault Owners Club
Renault Avantime Owners Club
Clio Sport
Megane Sport TBC

If you are in one of these clubs and turn up on the day we will do our best to accommodate you.

EXTRAS & FREEBIES

All competition entrants who complete a Renault Heritage registration and park in the heritage area on Saturday will receive a goody bag and nosecone (or other gift of equal value) as previously advised. They will also receive points for H&C or Renault Heritage Trophy 2008.

All members of the above clubs who complete a Renault Heritage registration and park their car on display in the heritage area on Saturday and/or Sunday will receive a goody bag. They will also receive points for H&C Trophy 2008.

All the above will enjoy use of the Renault hospitality unit.

Renault UK have sponsored an additional award for Fastest Heritage Renault in addition to the BOC Fastest Time of Day & First in Class Awards. Applicable to all registered cars.

Meguiar's UK have sponsored an additional award for Best Heritgae Renault. Applicable to all registered cars.

HOTELS & FOOD

Most people are in staying at the Purple Hotel (ex sleep inn) or Premier Inn which is virtually next door.

To tell the truth wont know much more until we get there.

I would suggest Sunday, but the competing cars will be parked in the paddock rather than the display area. Take the bugatti OC link in the first post to find out prices.

It seems registration for the collectors area takes place on the day when you arrive, so you will fill out your form and collect your Renault goody bag and take you place on the Renault H&C stand on the day. Still not clear if you will have to pay an entrance fee to park up there only or not. If you want to watch the racing and demo's then you will need to pay which is, I think £15 each day or £25 for a 2 day ticket. Sorry to be so vague but until we set up the stand today (Friday) we dont know if the collectors area is inside or outside the circuit gates. Last year it was outside if thats anything to go by but now Renault are officially involved we may have moved inside. Will post here any further news.
BTW weather not looking good for Sunday.... think of me taking to the Hill for the first time and on a wet track and in an open car!
