[post]222380[/post] Did you get them from a chap called Joachim in Germany by any chance
[mention=1292,#2b2b2b]Duncan[/mention], Yes, I got the tank, battery cover and gear leaver from Joachim. Very helpful guy and hassle free transaction :salut:

[post]222380[/post] I assume you can just pick up a new fuel cell to go in it. I came across a company called ATL who do that sort of thing when I was last looking at it.
Not sure what to do ATM!!! For sure the expiry date has well passed but would this not be for race certification? Probably just leak check / pressure test first before we start looking for options but have just noticed the ATL list a bag tank for the Clio Super1600 so may be the first port of call.

Aren't there short life spans on bag tanks especially using petrol with alot of ethonol in it like british road fuel. I'd do what you say Phil. Pressure test, re foam it and use it as is.

Wheels repaired with a great service from Ian Jemison Engineering Link

Got this set of Comodora wheels at a good price knowing the rears both had cracks on the inner rims but took a punt on them getting repaired. After some research and asking around we found Ian and Ben (the son) who have a wealth of knowledge working with magnesium alloys after many years in the race/rallying scene. If your looking to have any alloy wheels repaired or just a refurbish then look up these guys as they really know their stuff and quality workmanship.

Great to have recommendations Phil. I've been looking for a while now and found a few other places on the web but was wary of trying them.

Think I'll contact Jemison to have a chat.

Can you give an indication of price?.

Cheers,

Jim

Forgot to ask details of what finish you had done?. Do you have specific info on the original finish/paint colour etc?. Did you have them done to original manufacturers specs. Would like mine to be as original as possible.

Hi Jim, the wheels are finished in powder coat to a 'bright silver' finish so don't have any colour codes or anything. I think the finish is slightly darker than the original OEM finish but the powder coat finish gives a little more protection than paint. I will get one of the new Cromodoras wheels out of the loft to compare the colour for you ;)

I will PM you the prices.

Phil

For anyone interested the refurbished Cromodora wheels are a very close match with the powder coat from Ian Jemison :approve: ( original new wheel on the left )

We've also had the last big part of the jigsaw delivered ( other than a Trophy engine & Sadev that I'd better start saving for  ) Big Thanks to Mark Fish for putting my name on this from many moons ago when Sam advertised some Trophy panels on the forum.

Things have been moving in the background with the new moulds and they appear to come from original parts as the OEM unused side pod I acquired fits perfectly in the mould so the newly made pods should be fine [smilie=yay.gif]
Out of the mould on the right with OEM on the left;

Still can't believe how we got the moulds for such a good price considering the amount of work that went in to making them!!! Are they from Renault Sport Dieppe we'll never know or could [mention=3630,#000000]GPH[/mention] or [mention=1292,#2b2b2b]Duncan[/mention] shed any light??

Out of interest I've been moulding a new spoiler and noticed the fixing holes to be slightly larger than any other Trophy spoiler I've seen so will be interesting to see how this comes out.

I'll try and keep the photos / updates coming along :)

Great stuff Phil.

I believe your mounds would of come from MOC composites. They probably had some sort of contract with Renault meaning that they couldn't sell panels direct and once the 2002 series was over, production would of stopped. Maybe they ended up going to private hands on the quiet rather than being destroyed at that point.

Well done Phil - looks like the project is going very well. :approve:

Hard to see the difference between the new/original items lined up against the refurbished ones..........

Todays fun was offering the new home made side pod to the car but things didn't look right!!!

They don't seem to line up with the pods sitting forward of the rear quarter so tried the original item that I have and found exactly the same so not the pods. Now I know that some panels have been repaired but what's going on here? Time to remove the rear quarter and all became clear :) The quarter panel had been repaired but for some reason about 8mm short looking at the mould so when I make the new panel things 'should' be all good [smilie=yay.gif]

This is the rear quarter sat in the mould and we see that it's repair is a bit short!!!
IMG_2905_zpsidsnbzbm.jpg

Guessing a new rear quarter is required ( I knew the moulds would come in handy ;) ) Still amazes me the thought gone in to them as the rear quarter is in 6 parts to make the flanges and release the part.

Looks like I might be doing a LOT of fibre glassing in the coming months!!!!

Looks like it's going to be a bit tight to the door ??

Fibre glass doors will be coming off Ed so fingers crossed the steel ones fit a little better ;) The shut line with front wing does look a little large but we'll cross that bridge soon.

Little update of 'how to make a ducktail' spoiler.

Thought some people might be interested in the spoiler so took a few photos along the way.

Firstly the moulds were cleaned and a couple coats of chemical release agent applied followed by a couple of coats of mould release wax ( just in case as it's the first time using the mould ). Then they got a layer of white gel coat followed by 3 layers of glass cloth ( 1 x 225g & 2 x 450g ). Parts were released from the mould and trimmed ready for bonding the 2 halves together to complete the spoiler.

So now we have the new spoiler but need to set it up and off to the garage we go.

Time to strip the fibre glass boot and diffuser off and get the steel boot lid fitted ready for offering the new spoiler. I'm looking towards the Evo1 styling with steel doors and boot fitted, basically because I will be driving the car on the road and the light weight fibre glass door and boot had to go for me, not because there is anything wrong with loosing weight but just not what I want!!!

(Excuse the poor quality photos as I forgot the camera!!! and can't seem to rotate them!!!)

[album]17893[/album] [album]17894[/album][album]17898[/album][album]17899[/album]

So the spoilers profile look good and fits but needs a little trimming and lifting up with a couple of spacers.

Time for a little update and we'll try to upload a few of the old photos as 'Photobollocks' been messing around!!!!

Been busy making a few new panels and the moulds are looking very good [smilie=yay.gif]

Rear D/S quarter moulded and waiting final trimming to correct fit, [album]18070[/album][album]18069[/album]

D/S door skin, [album]18072[/album]

Next up is the rear bumper, [album]18073[/album]

Also sourced a set of original race used Trophy brake cooling ducts. These will be repaired then used to cast a mould off as a couple of members have expressed an interest in a set ;) [album]18071[/album]

I love this thread, Dr Frankenstein!

Great to see these panels coming together - looking forward to see the assembled monster...

Awsome Phil!! Bloody love it!! What you doing with the old doors and boot? The Turbo car needs to lose a few pounds haha

[mention=5111,#000000]DaveL485[/mention] , noted pal and keep you posted ;)

This weekends efforts resulted in a new Trophy rear bumper that popped out of it's mould a treat [smilie=yay.gif]
[album]18153[/album]

Only problem is we have run out of resin so the lower filler piece will have to wait!!!!

Time to start trimming the door skin, bumper and rear quarter to see how thing fit together.

Fingers crossed :salut:
