La 'Trophy' project

RUSSO

New Member
Many folk will be aware that I have been on the search for a 'cheap' Cat D Ph1 for some time to create a 'Trophy' road car but after waiting and waiting with nothing coming up for sale and prices going North I decided to put a few feelers out. Then [mention=1292,#2b2b2b]Duncan[/mention] (big thanks pal) mentioned a damaged Ph2 car that had been re-shelled with a Trophy shell and set up for rally cross driving.....This got me interested and thinking it might be a great basis for a long term project. So after making contact with Alun ( The Welsh Wizard ) and speaking to Scott @ SG Motorsport who has done a lot of work on the car decided it was worth a visit down South Wales!!!!

Deal done and the car now resides in Lancashire :race:

Might not be everybody's cup of tea at the moment with looks and colour but we have a few ideas ( and parts collected over the years ) that might bring the orange beast up as good looking as she drives!!!

Specification to date:
1/ Ph2 No#255 damaged and re-shelled with engine and gear box to a trophy shell with trophy panels all round, fully road legal ;)
2/ Trophy sub-frames front and rear
3/ Brembo trophy callipers all round to stop things!!!
4/ Running stand alone Emerald ECU
5/ Full trophy exhaust
6/ Penske shocks all round ( set up high ATM )
7/ Quaife LSD

The plan
1/ Drive the car and enjoy for a few months :race:
2/ Loose the Lexan glass and fit steel doors as Oem
3/ Fit trophy wheels, splitter, spoiler & pods.
4/ Strip and re-spray trophy yellow or LY????

Well that's the idea!!!!

Thoughts and comments welcome.

Phil

About time you spilled the beans MR.Russo...and just a few miles down the road from me :) I shall watch this with great interest.!! And also well done Duncan great find fella :approve:

Great buy Phil. Looks like you've got yourself a really sound base with a lot of money spent already!

I'll look forward to reading the updates on this one and would certainly like to see it in the flesh! [emoji106]

Glad you've let the 'cat out of the bag'!
You've done the right thing. Really look forward to following this thread.

First question - what is the current colour? Looks similar to Porsche blutorange.

Sounds awesome in the vid posted Phil!! I'm really pleased for you & happy to help. Top marks to you for taking the plunge and going for it.

With the parts you have ready to go on to it, it's going to look the business. :approve:

What a great find and project, If you're going to re-paint, then it has to be the original Trophy Yellow.

I want one!!

Cracking buy Phil, and, as ever, seems like Duncan has unearthed a gem. :salut:

Yellow all the way.........and although I am a fan of LY, original Trophy yellow may look more authentic. However, it's your choice......

Seems like you have a great project on your hands. Look forward to reading (and seeing) the updates.

Sounds awesome too.

Soooo many options here for you Phil. The mind literally boggles.

I quite like the idea of a 'final incarnation' (Ph3?) in LY.
Is that possible? Or does the abundance of Ph1 panels make that the easiest route?

I probably would avoid LY in a Ph1 though... not sure why though - looks ace in that picture.

I'm just having my Trophy Cromadora refurbed with a view to sell if you need a set.

Car looks great, i'd be properly like a kid in a candy store with all the options to look at. Supercharger would definitely be on the list though :)

Got to be yellow [smilie=yay.gif] Sadev box? :race:
No, don't think so Simon. Engine mounts been moved over to suit the 255 engine & box now ( seems the Sadev is a wider box and needed a shunt over )

Little update as it's been a while....
Well firstly I needed somewhere to strip the car down and my garage isn't big enough!!! So with a little nudge to the parents we are building a 'workshop', 6m long x 5m wide ;)

Still been doing a few parts and we wanted to run the Trophy inlet plenum but some will know it doesn't fit straight on!!!! The Trophy lower inlets have a different profile and angle from the road cars. So after speaking with the people in the know ( Cheers Mr Patchall ) we went with Ph1 lower inlets with an adapter plate might be the best way forward.
Few parts to play with;

15mm skimmed off the Ph1 lower inlets;

Plate made to change the inlet profile;

All looks promising bolted up but still need to fit Lol ( cars in storage )

Also we have recently sourced a Clio racer dash top ( damaged ) but beggars can't be choosers and that came from Mexico!!![album]18083[/album][album]18082[/album]

Maybe a fibreglass job and make a few copys as these are like rocking horse s&&t and a few of the ClioSport boys are after them ;)

Little 'wombling' weekend to collect a few goodies from France and finally meet up with my good friend Mr Bruno Pinoy :salut:

Think these should look good when back to original silver,

Lucky to get hold of these seats which I'm led to believe where removed from one of the twin seated Michelin Driving Experience Trophy cars,

Couldn't help myself and bought a couple more 'boys toys' [smilie=yay.gif]
