Kangoo Trekka 1.6 top end rebuild

I have finally been able to spend some time on my kangoo 4x4 1.6 16V which initially looked like a snapped timing belt, after removing the head the cause was now clear and it was a idler pully bearing failure. The end result of course is the same which is a top end rebuild and all 16 valves replaced. I was a tech for Renault for a number of years so the job is straight forward enough, quite enjoying the job to be honest :)

Images as requested, as you can see the idler bearing has collapsed and as a matter of course I will replace the water pump. I have lapped in all the new valves and on Monday will carry out some mild port work, it will help it breathe a bit better and all mass produced engines can be improved by a tidy up of the ports.

A light clean up of the ports to help the flow with before and after images, its a 1.6 Kangoo so in this case I am not looking for anything other than making it more efficient.

So the Kangooo 4x4 is now back on the road and the porting work has made a noticable difference on how the car performs, on a side note I have been using the Torque lite app and a OBD bluetooth device for most of my diagnostic work and it has served me well but limited to engine codes. Becasuse of its limitations I have just bought the Autel MD802 scanner and its a cracking piece of kit and worked a treat when I recently needed to repair a fault on my wifes Mercedes auto gearbox, It also works well on the Kangoo.

Hi Andy
I will take a few pics and post them up with a description of what it can do or perhaps a short video would be better, the code reader showed a historic fault on the ABS on the right front sensor which was no doubt due to it having been disconected at some point for a wheel bearing etc. It also showed a historic fault on the left pretensioner no doubt due to the connector under the seat, I cleared them all and the systems are now defect free. There are plenty of videos clips on Youtube of the Autel code reader however they mostly show people taking them out of the box and giving a half baked description on what it does with no real fault finding taking place.
If I get time I will put a few faults on the Kangoo enegine system , one which I know will generate a fault code and one that wont and show how to trace the two problems .
