Well a few of you know my car has being in storage for a while as I have being away with work. Back home for a while now and my car needed some TLC.
Starting off on saturday. I had to tax the old girl so went to Barnard Castle Post Office and parted with some money  . Then once home I started to remove my Brake Calipers, front and back so that I could sand them down ready for some paint to freshen the up (the rear calipers were really tatty).
After some layers of paint I gave them some stickers that I orderd from Uber9, then finally a clear coat.

I think they came out really well.

Will post some pics up later when they are on the car.

I will be updating as the week passes of pics from my next jobs that I have lined up. :D :D :D [smilie=icon_cheers.gif]

Looks good mate, Mine are a little dull so may have a go in a few weeks, what paint did you use? :approve:

A spray tin of Hammerite smooth (400ml), just about enough for the 4 calipers. Then I used plasti-coat clear over the APracing graphics.
The worst bit is the rear calipers they get very rusty. I should have had them shot blasted really.

Just a couple of extra pics. Fitted the painted brakes yesterday, will get full side shot tomorrow :D. Also went to DVLA local office and changed my reg for the V6 i got off my girlfriend for my birthday back in feb.

Getting it out its hiding hole were its being for a year. [smilie=doubt.gif]

A bit of rust around the suspention, looks worse on the pics, not to bad to look at when you see it properly.

Tomorrow:

Do the engine oil + filter
Change Gearbox oil
Fit Green cotton filter
Fit KTR back box

More pics tomorrow [smilie=icon_cheers.gif]

Right, engine oil and filter. Also got a new sump plug washer, I will place the part numbers at the bottom.

Sump plug removed and allowed to drain for about an hour while I got on with other things
Picture247.jpg

And also the oil filter. In front of the sump for those that dont know.
Picture248.jpg

Oil filter: 7700720978
Sump plug washer: 7700266044

Oil was from opie oils. Silkolene PRO S 5W-40 Ester Synthetic Oil (6 litres)

Next was the gearbox oil. I just wanted to change it for peace of mind.

These are the things you will need, also a bung key set and a spanner.
Firstly I made a funnel from a old oil tub and a old pressure washer hose (worked quite well). I got the oil dip stick (green thing) from renault. You sould use this when checking the oil level, it has A,B and C marks on it (MK2 v6 uses marks C)
Also 2 new seals (I'll get to them in a bit)
Picture273.jpg

Picture274.jpg

Then I drained the old oil out and left for a while untill all was out. The bung is under the dif housing part of the box.
Picture246.jpg

Then open the filling bung, near the front of the box near the wheel and earth strap. Opened with a set of mole grips because its hard to get your fingers in.
Picture254.jpg

Then I got my home made funnel and placed it into the engine bay and allowed the hose to trail down to the filling hole.
Picture256.jpg

Refit the gearbox drain plug and new copper washer.

Started to fill the box using elf tranself TRP 75x-80 and my handy funnel :)
Picture255.jpg

Once 2.3L (2.4L is full on mk2)ish had being put in I checked the level using tool B.vi 1675. Just insert it in a locate the tab on the box.
Picture257.jpg

Like i said before the oil should be on the C mark (Mk2 v6)

Ok, oil at the right level time to refit the filling bung with new seal.

Gearbox sump seal: 7703062062
Filling bung seal: 8200201381

And the elf tranself TRP 75x-80 was sent by clarkiev6 from carlton garage.

Next, this!!!

Removing the original one was a pain because the hanger rubbers were tight on the hanger arms.

Gave the jointing flanges a wire brush. Oh and put some exhaust sealent on ready for the jointing

A view of the joining/connecting silencer (what ever its called)
Picture252.jpg

And then lifted up the K-tec with a small bit of oil on the hanger arms to aid sliding the rubber hangers over.

Got it on the hangers and used a transmition jack to aid positioning of the tail pipes.

Once in the best potion tighten up the clamps.

One exhaust fitted :D time to do one...

Great work Blakey :)

They should call you 'Handy Andy' :approve:

The calipers are looking very good - I likey [smilie=bowdown.gif]

Next the air filter. It was really dusty and in know fit state to go back in. Not sure how renault think it will last with there changing routine. Anyway I was in no mood for paying £100 from renault so the hunt was on for a cheaper one, wanted to pay £10 from a motor factors, I new there would be a filter off other cars thar would fit. After a day in darlington going around the motor factors I gave up and order a green cotton (pannel type) still bloody £50.

The thing is when I spoke to lad regarding the green cotton he said that the v6 one also goes into a vauxhall astra 2.0 GTE 86 model. So some of you tight arses that dont like paying loads for a air filter (me included) try matching mk2 v6 to the astra's

Anyway got my green filter, like it but still to much for a air filter (I wont sleep tonight [smilie=doubt.gif] )
Picture272.jpg

And the horrid item it replaced.
Picture224.jpg

Picture225.jpg

All back together now. I will see whats to do tomorrow ?......................

You are certainly not scared of getting into it. Your v6 is looking sweet for all your hard work. :approve:

Great info both the gearbox refilling and air filter option.

Cheers James. Cheaper to do it yourself (can you tell im northen/tight) and you know its done properly.
Glad the info was of use, gearbox oil change was a bit of a gray area on the site, just dont forget the green dip stick (only £1.50).
Non of this is very hard but it helps if you have the gear and tools to do it.

Just a few pics to finnish off my day.
