Is the vee underpowered - a look from a different angle

It might be a couple of inches higher than the plastic undertray but would you want the sump sitting just mm's above it? I know I gave my undertray a good smack from time to time.
I'd be looking into a rear anti roll bar before worrying about dropping the engine 25mm or so and making a new exhaust system to suit. Especially for a gain that would hardly be noticable until very harshest of driving.

Had the chance to fit the ph2 subframe but decided not to owing to the extra weight of the thing! Can a standalone ARB be fitted? Are there mounting points back there?

Take a look at your car Jon. Some later ph1's were fitted with ph2 subframes. I'm not sure if mine is but there is a hole either side near rear mounting point along with 4 fixing holes where a bush can be fitted for the bar attatchment. The bar itself goes through the subframes bottom crossmember. You will also need drop link brakets on your dampers. Either way, they are very simple to make and retro fit to any car.

Pretty much any transverse engine will be a piece of piss to fit. I think the R26 f1 Megane motor and box would be the best 4 pot install. They even have an lsd as standard. Just lacks abit of character.

Engine conversions are the way ahead! Lol

na it'd be crap with an R26 engine, needs to remain a V6 of some sort! although the R26 engine bolts straight onto the V6 gearbox so no messing about with driveshafts!

I agree with the v6 tbh. I feel bad enough using the 2.7 audi lump at the moment. I couldn't cope with a 4pot but it would be devistatingly quick.
