Is the Vee now a recognised classic?

I haven't seen the magazine yet....

One of the two mainstream classic car magazines featuring the Vee.... and Jimmy's Elan. Got to be worth a read.

I think for those with foresight, the Vee was a classic as soon as it went into production. So yes, certainly considered to be a classic. With new eco regs constantly being developed and inforced, the Clio v6 is surely the last of its kind.

Off to get my copy now. Agree the Clio was one of those instant classics, or that's how it appeared to me when I first saw it.
Don't get many such cars being built any more. Can anyone name an instant classic of the last 5 years that retailed below £30k?

I think it's rather grand that a mainstream Classic Car magazine is picking up on the Vee, and that will introduce the car to a much more focused classic enthusiast around the world. No Dom, I can't think of anything else like it in the past 20 years! But you have to remember that the estimate of the actual cost of producing the Vees is anything up to 100k euros each. We are just the beneficiaries of a generous Renault marketing exercise, which seemed cheap to them compared to the 500 million a year they were spending on F1 in the late 1990s!!

Interesting, didn't know that. But makes complete sense. Low production numbers, hand built, TWR development costs.

Having spoken to a few more sources, I understand the overall net cost per car if you include all development etc was around that figure, but the base cost vs the sell price of the car meant that there was gross profit on each car sale.

Hey Duncan, what new info has surfaced recently for the cost to rise from a previously recognised 70k to 100k euros..?

None I know of! I just assumed the exchange rate at the time was why Mark was stating a different number in Euros.

The new info was clarity that each car didn’t individually cost 70k to build.

Picked up my copy tonight, great read [emoji106] plus it’s the first time I’ve bought classic & sports car. Added to my subscription list.

I’m starting to get the feeling this Vee ownership is very intoxicating while at the same time making you potentially bankrupt

IMO the Vee was firmly in the 'Modern Classics' category even before production ended.... :approve:

I was at least 6 years too late getting into one, which I did in 2011, but for some reason the Vee didn't get its due recognition until 2015/16! However, there is no turning back the clock now.........

Seems like a great read - must get a copy tomorrow......

I had mine out at the weekend at the Abingdon Motor Sports CAR-nival (see my post in the Clio V6 Photos section). The comments I received and overheard over the weekend showed me that many car people already regard our cars as rare and classic. The magazine articles are now confirming these commonly held views.
