Is the same carb used on a Renault 5 Gordini turbo as is used on a Renault 5 GT Turbo? I'm told it is the Solex 32 DIS. Pls can anyone help me with this? Thank you.

Hi

The renault 5 GT Turbo carb is different to the Gordini Turbo Carb and not interchangable.

I noticed that you had another thread about re-build kits. Have a look on Mecaparts website and send them an email. Really helpful, understand english and quick to reply

In a word........NO.

The Gordini has a twin choke Weber the GT turbo has a single venturi Solex or Zenith.

Why (out of interest) do you ask? What do you want to do?

Thanks for the replies.

The problem I have is that I'm a novice at car mechanics and therefore trying to research what to do by using the internet.

I've been given a Solex carb that was described to me as coming from a R5 Gordini turbo, but there's nothing marked on the carb to confirm this. The only markings it has is "Solex" embossed on it and "10 P7 74 00" stamped vertically on the side. As I dont know which carb it is I'm not sure which parts to order.

I've found a rebuild kit on ebay described as a "SOLEX 32 DIS CARB SERVICE KIT RENAULT 5 GT TURBO +9+11". Based on "Cliche Guevara"'s reply maybe this is the carb I've got. Mine looks like a single barrel (single venturi?) carb. I've taken a photo of it - would you allow me to email it to you (or post it somewhere in the site) so that you can take a look?

It may sound long winded but if you set up a photobucket account you can have the photo appear on your last posting by adding a html tag.Thats what I and humbertob do.Its also a good way to get as many photos as you like onto an ebay listing for free!

As for the carb, the 32 may stand for 32mm which would be the width of the barrel/venturi.It wont have come from a Gordini originally, however some people use them in order to fit an intercooler.
