The 106 failed the MOT today Passed everything else apart from numberplate light (Tempremental but would not light with a kick) and tyre advisory O/S/R, low tread but still legal


also on Exhaust Emissions C/O content at idle speed excessive


Natural Idle Test failed

Just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on what to do. It was at working temperature but the results were eratic

define erratic?

As in the reading was fluctuating wildly? If so they water trap in the tester is probably full, they never get emptied.

even if the cat was missing 2.18 is too high, should be 1.5 max with no cat on it.

For it to be that high its either misfiring or theres a sensor issue

better hope the cat can recover from it as well.

Surges slightly now and again, maybe Set of plugs and leads - burn it down the A13 then and take it back for a retest?

tbh I hate diagnosing without live data, you can only do so much but you'll never guess the cts is intermittently telling the ecu the temp of the coolant just dropped to -40 degrees

Well getting it checked out Saturday but MOT is out-ish

do the plugs etc, also change the oil, if its runnign rich the sump will have fuel in it and that will cause higher readings, as the vapours go through the breathers.

tbh havent looked under the bonnet since I got it, no oil changed or plugs, since I dont know when. Probably 2 years

Well it passed yesterday

Some sensor issue. Mechanic mate took it in and took of an air pipe, brough the CO right down apparently

Saves paying £100+ on a sensor
