Intrax Coilovers

Not come across them before but the sales patter sounds promising!

Look forward to more info...

For the Renault Clio V6 we can offer you the 1K2 shock absorber set..

The 1K2 is equipped with externally adjustable damping and adjustable in height.

Unlike many competitors, Intrax deliberately chooses óne button for the damping adjustment of "smooth" to "sporty / hard". With this one button can set a range of about 40 positions, were simultaneously compression and rebound are adjusted.

For the front and the rear we have an 45mm upside-down 1K2 shock absorber.

Optionally we can equip this set with our “Black Titan” coating, which will be applied on the guidance- and piston rod. This is a coating that cannot rust and is extreme hard and smooth. The friction is lowered with these piston rods, which reducing oil temperatures, improving traction and extending life time.

Pricing for the 1K2 set including springs and rear hard top mount is € 2925,-
Black Titan upgrade is € 400,-.

Pricing is excl. VAT or international VAT number.
Ex Works.

Works out currently at £3325 EXCL VAT [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Thats for the road set up, they do a track set up and a combination set up

A few of the GT4 crew use the TEIN EDFC setup which is in-car adjustable :approve:

TEIN EDFC

They come up now and again for sale at good prices but guess the Vee market for used coil-overs is a lot smaller ...

Too much money IMHO especially as they quote they're spec'd 90% road 10% track - if they had Penske engraved on the side and were fully adjustable, supplied with front and rear top mounts then maybe...

Interesting that they have designed those custom rear top-mounts to increase stroke length I wonder why.

But for 3k ex VAT not including installation or the mandatory four wheel alignment they'd better be very, very good or come free with 2k worth of gold.

Yeah I'm with you on that one Max. Cheap Spax dampers and the like have a similar adjustability. They maybe good and rated well on other forums/makes but for that much money I'd want them 2 way adjustable. After all there is a bit more of an art to damping than just soft and hard. KW still seem a much better option, especialy for a road set up.

Guys, tend to disagree sorry. I've driven Harry's car recently, with & without Intrax: huge difference, there is excellent traction and still comfortable though. Not with that hard ride of a KW - which isn't considered as the recommended upgrade for a PH2 by the various specialists here in the Benelux by the way.
But indeed lot of money but I'll go for it. Here in the Netherlands it's included with a full set up & installation: a full alignment and balancing/4 wheel weighting & adjustment

Lets face it, fitting any make of coilovers only takes a couple of hours and a full geo set up doesn't cost the earth so for nearly £3k I'd insist it was in on the purchase price to be honest. There will obviously be an increase in lateral grip over the OEM setup but is it £1.5k more than a KW setup? Also, with the option of two way adjustable dampers with the KW's, is it not just down to a simple change of spring rate to get them as good or as better as any as far as ride quality is concerned?? Not for a minute doubting these are good units but pound for pound they surely don't match up to other makes? ....I might be wrong

i appreciate my opinion blatently counts for nothing on here with everybody else but ive got kwv3 and some custom spring stuff aswell and my car doesnt ride "hard" imo.
i'm listening tim.

Tim: I'm after coilovers for mine and KW v3's will be the ones I go for. Compared to the OE set up how much does it affect the ride comfort and is there a huge difference in handling? Worth the £1500 ??

Cheers in advance

Looch,

I remembered you posting this topic.

I'm meeting a guy called 'Mark Fish' tomorrow who has done a hell of a lot of work in motorsport and has racing history of his own with Renaults.

He told me that he has a suspension kit for the Vee that he fits for £1,600.00. I'll get full details on it tomorrow and let you know, mate.

Tim, you are almost as defensive as Ray.

From what I see, everyone here devours your thoughts and experience when it comes to Vee's.

Re. the suspension. Not too sure, will find out tomorrow and let you all know. I rang him about a service and we got chatting for ages, seemed a lovely bloke and spoke so highly of the Vee. Said he wants to meet before he does any work at all to the car, so that I get a feel for him and build some trust. How cool is that?

Out of interest, is your car generally the same spec as Ray's?

Well Tim, since I've been here, you have always come across as knowledgeable and insightful and I look out for your posts.

Is your Vee the one with the carbon/black bonnet? Did you also go with the additional Motec ECU?

It's always amazed me that there are so many horror stories regarding the Vee when it comes to tuning for additional bhp. I understand that room is very tight in the engine bay, but surely information on a Laguna V6 lump is 'out there' and easily researchable. No need to prove me wrong, I've read enough posts to understand that it is a horror, I just don't understand why so many garages have got it wrong.

As your average family man, I don't have bags of swag to chuck at the Vee, but I do have enough to either change up to a Mk2 or to spend on my 230. I'm not even sure why, I love it so much as it is.

Did you also ask yourself the same question Tim, or did you know from the outset what you wanted from your Vee?

Looch, sorry for derailing your thread, I'll get it right back on track tomorrow, mate.

Mate don't worry at all, appreciate your update... Looking forward to hearing back from you tomorrow! As you were gentleman :salut:

Ps... Ask MF if it's more geared to track or road... I would be wanting a road set up as I use it often [smilie=thanks.gif]

I asked that already, Looch, as I don't wish to track my car. He said the set up is very much geared for road use and totally transforms roadholding and stability.

I only rang about a service but he piqued my interest alright.

:)
