IMG_3833.webp IMG_3834.webp IMG_3835.webp Good evening

I bought this gt turbo prima racing earlier on in the year, done a few upgrades and getting a few niggley bits!

The fuel pump just went on me the other day, got it recovered to my home, tried it the morning after and it started first turn!! So I decided to upgrade the fuel pump and filter located under the petrol tank. Took it out and after 15 minutes exactly the same happened, it died, so I left it there for 3 hours and it started first time!!

When I upgraded the front radiator and fan a few months ago an earth wire from the body to the alternator came loose so I re located it somewhere else, since then a light comes on in the dashboard (which never happened before) and it drains the battery, so I have to disconnect the battery terminals every night.

I'm thinking that this has something to do with the fuel pump being intermittent?

The car has got an alarm that cuts the fuel pump off I think

Any ideas ? I have not got a clue!!

Off the top of my head on a 1.7 no sorry. But i have had a couple of alarms fail intermittently doing very similar. One cut the fuel on the way home from buying it and stranded me on a roundabout. Ended up getting them removed/replaced and never had an issue again

Started it again today, left it running for 15 minutes and it cut out, tried starting it and the fuel pump didn't buzz.

When it cuts out it does turn over but won't start

The earthwire comes from the alternator but when does it need to go to?

Is the fuel pump relay by the fuse box in the passenger side footwell?

And by the way all your advices are much appreciated

2nd picture my finger is on the earth wire at the alternator end, 3rd picture is the earth wire ground just behind the front bumper

Changed the fuel pump relay and it won't kick in!! Booked it in a highly regarded auto electrician who is going to tidy the wiring up and obviously sort out the problem.

Just a quick question there is a dump valve on the car, I'm a bit to old for it now!! Is there some sort of dump valve that is quieter? Hear some turbo cars that just make a hiss in between gears

Take the dumpvalve off and block the hole/vac hose mate (y)
