Interior light not working

Hi guys!

I know this might be an old topic but my interior lights dont work.
The bulbs look fine and the contact points in the switch looks fine.
I took a quick glanse at the fusebox but im not sure which fuse i should check.

I pulled out a fuse that looked like it had something to do with lights, but it also cut the power to the radio/clock.

Day 1 of owning a Clio V6 is just over and what a really fun little car! :-D

My day 1 of ownership ended ( unsurprisingly) with a pencil coil failure!! Not a problem though as I'd stocked up the toolkit with a couple of spare ones, a small socket set and fault code reader. I think every V owner carries these :)

P.s. have you had a volt Meter on the bulb contacts to confirm if it's dead or not? Does opening either door cause it to come on?

No sings of any light going on when a door is open. Should there even be one?
If it is a switch where is it located?

The light on the inside of the roof should go on (as long as it's in either the on position, or the on when door is open position. I.e. The switch has 3 positions).

If I remember correctly, there is a little black switch on the inside of the door shut (on the side of the hinge). With the door fully open, you should be able to press that black button yourself and test that the inside roof light comes on.

Ok. I found the lamp you were talking about. Next to the clock right? It tells me if the seatbelt is on and doors are closed.
That light works.
It lights up when I open a door.
I will have to check with a multimeter to see if there is any power going to the interior lamp.
But what fuse do I also have to check?

Just checked the multimeter and there is no power coming to the interior light. I swapped fuses yesterday for a new one so this have to be a problem deeper down in the electrics.

Have you checked with a multimeter with the interior light switch in the "permanent on" position?

If the switch is in the middle position, then it's relying on the door sensor working.

If there's no power even with switch in other position, then indeed something strange going on.

Is the original radio fitted?

I checked all the different positions of the switch. None gave any readout on the multimeter.

Door sensor is working as I can see the light turn on and off.

There isn't and original radio fitted.

That might be your problem.

I once stripped out an entire Ph1 interior, to swap over to a Ph2 dash. I remember there was some "weirdness" around the stereo and its links to the rest of the car systems. Odd things like unless the clock cable was connected, the instrument light dimmer dial didn't work.

I wonder if someone has hacked around the cables (rather than just using an ISO adaptor) when fitting the after-market stereo and therefore cut the cables that feed the interior lights?

Sounds odd, and it's that long ago I can't remember all the wire layouts, but a possibility maybe....

I was actually thinking of that yesterday. Cause the light dimmer on my stereo wont work. It gets no info from the car so you might be on to something. Anyone with an aftermarket radio that could have a look and send us some pictures, or should I ask the Cliosport group?
