my hire car, (while mines being repaired), spec....

2.0 CDTi SRi, cloth interior 09 plate, 29933 miles

outside does look good, which is why i requested one, inside looked promising, but after half an hour i realised it really was just a vauxhall, which i cant explain why.

so, the interior, although looked quite exciting, after fiddling with buttons, i found it quite boring and not really that good quality fit and finish.

passenger seat, considering the mileage.....

seating wise, good driving position i found easy to find, however, this being the hatch version, found rear headroom really not good at all

bootwise, after comparing to another owner taxi driver i work with, a Vectra owner, we reckon its actually a little bit smaller

engine, found it still had the inmistakeable Vauxhall diesel clattering, although very pokey in 2nd 3rd and 4th, being a 6 speed box, 5th and 6th definately for motorway driving, when i gave it some beans for a sporty drive, i managed to get it to briefly spin in 2nd, so yup, quite pokey, MPG wise, i think its going to be good on the trip to Leicestershire on Sunday :thumb:

if it was my money, i'd get a Skoda Superb, although i may be tempted by the estate version of the Insignia

be interested to hear other people's opinions on this car :thumb:

Technical no idea but inside and out it looks like a poorly executed variant of a Toyota Camry

Oh well. GM are doing it again

Put too much bloody diesel in it now, f**k it

have to give it back Monday, so filled it up as I have to go to Leicestershire tomorrow, now it's saying I can do 600 miles

guy at work has same one in white, car looks good now but getting used to seeing the new badge. it's new but it's not exciting.

yup, the engines quite good though, plenty of poke, and 6th gear is a great help for getting fairly good economy (55-65 at 80), not as comfy as the rover though

I've been in a couple (although admittedly not driven) and they seem pretty good for what they are. Seem like solid practical motors with all the mod-cons you'd expect. Not really exciting though, that's true.

I genuinely think these are the dullest looking cars on the road! Hate them! I'm sure it is safe and practical with good fuel economy and various other things some people are bothered about but christ, can you imagine owning it?!? I think i'd die of shame!

Why not? It's practical (two seats, two doors), sky's the limit for space in the back, fairly economical (I managed 33mpg driving it from Bristol to Birmingham one day, don't ask me how), cost-efficient (free tax) and it's safe (bright orange).

:D
