Immobiliser issue?!?

Hello all
Strange issue with my car. It always starts first time no issue, runs smoothly etc. However If I were to drive it for say 15 minutes+ go for a blast then stop at the shops to get petrol etc sometimes it won’t start and I have to go through a trial and error process of unlocking it then locking it again, leaving it for a couple of minutes over and over. Can take 5 - 10 mins of farting around to get it started again.

But when it does the car runs perfectly hence why I think it’s the immobiliser.
Also the red immobiliser light by the gear stick it always on regardless of whether the car is being driven or parked and lock up.

Ps I’m being proactive to get the issue from last year fixed. it’s not been driven since October and won’t come out until the roads are dry again [emoji1303]

It sounds like the immobiliser (particularly given the light is on). Historically, people would only have immobiliser issues when aftermarket items were fitted - OEM products were pretty damn robust. Things may be different now that Vees are becoming more aged.

Please be aware that the common ‘starter-motor’ failure has similar symptoms to what is being described. It initially starts to have some trouble starting; then eventually won’t start at all!

Have you tried with your spare key?

If it's the immobilizer and you have a dodgy, then it's very likely that the antenna inside the key has suffered stress over the years and the solders are cracking, this happened on my Clio.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Yes I’ve tried both keys and have the same issue.

The original starter motor failed about a month in to owning it two years. The new one could be faulty but think it’s probably something else. Hmmm
