Does anyone have any idea how much a gearset for a ph2 gearbox is from renault? I have a spare casing here and didn't know if it would be a good way to go as a next easy upgrade?

Can you not rob the guts out of a traffic box, i know the ratios are slightly different but not by much, some even have the correct final drive ratio anyway, so for a car with a bit more power longer ratios might be a godsend.

They don't list a 'set' of gears just individual items. You would have to ask Paul at RPD to price them all up for you.

and this may be of use to you LINK

Could do but I'd be better of just using the complete van gearbox in that case. Was just curiouse to see if it was a cheap alternative to trying to find and buy a complete ph2 box. I wouldn't want a box with a f/d any higher than it is now. Would make 6th almost useless until maximum mpg at cruising speed is required. What would be nice would be a much taller 1st, a slightly taller 2nd, 3rd kept the same, a slighty shorter 4th, 5th and 6th the same and then the whole lot lowering by a much shorter final drive. That would make a lovely box to use on tight twisty roads I reckon. Wonder if there are such ratios available in the PK6 for vans and the like??? A mish mash of Traffic, Avantine and Clio cogs might make a short close ratio box that just wasn't viable for production use but perfect for a track day junkie. ;)

Thanks James. I was hoping you knew as 9 times out of 10 you usually do! lol ;)

I too am having trouble locating a ph2 box for reasonable money. Does anyone know if any of the PK6 van boxes would make a decent alternative? There are plenty of van boxes for sale at reasonable prices.

Yes there is but I looked at the ratios and on a standard van 'box it will be geared for 250mph at 6000rpm in top lmao

Top speed in Ph2 is 171@7100rpm... That's just going on what I've seen on the speedo. Would love to get a GPS in the car to see how accurate it is.

*EDIT - your calculations are probably correct then... as it was reading around 166 not much below 7000.*
