So you did need one afterall :( Nice one Spike :)

Thanks for all your help. Thank again to Spike.

I will credit your account tomorrow. Text me regarding your bank...are you Lloyds?

Still none left in the country! It's crazy. This isn't Afganistan. The UK is one of the main markets for the V6. Had all the bulls**t from Renault when trying to get one for mine in December. Some complaining with R cust services at 1630 on a thu afternoon, and mysteriously appeared at 7.30 am the next morning, special delivery. I know there was one in Paris on the shelf when I enquired, and there was one in Germany.
Glad Sir.SPIKE has come to the rescue. :)

Thanx for the good feedback guys, i wish i had another five, i think we will be needing them. just as the post concerning second belt changes caused folk to think i have the feeling this should too.
the parts service for these vehicles is utter crap, i went to renault for some 8mm dowels , you know the ones for lining casting up that fit roun the outside of some bolts. it took 3 weeks to get these and they were £2.50 each, ridiculous. in nottm the dealer even has to order oil filters as they don't keep them on stock. what do they keep? no discs, special order, rear track control ends , again special order! is it the dealers or is it reno at fault here???
any one of us who owns one of these vehicles is in the same mess, unless of course your car is parked up in an air bubble. we should not be putting up with such shit service.
funny how when there is a show how everyone clubs together to fly the reno flag and display to the general public what a great manufacturer reno is. if the public knew what support reno give to their top level car buyers they would be appalled, probably not too good for the renault image at all.
is it worth , as a club, lobbying or even asking renault to try and help this situation, because as these cars get older if you cannot get parts for them it could seriously damage their value.
thats enough ranting for now, james, any ideas?

Re: The DMF...I thought this would be a standard Laguna/Espace V6 item? Why would they go out the way to create and manufacture a unique one to the V6?

Surely the Clio V6 shares the same DMF as some other cars out there...????

It's taken Renault long enough to establish the 'Specialist Renaultsport Dealerships'. Long overdue for such a brand. I think these specialist dealers are potentially the outlets to concentrate on with any sort of lobbying. Either that, or someone like RPD could pick up the mantle with such a niche market. Saying that, they already are. As Spike says, the cars are getting older, and what service requirement will become the next 'cambelt replacement'? This forum is an excellent place for Renault to start identifying the shortfalls in the parts supply chain. I can never understand the gap between the quality of service with Main Dealers and Renault Customer Services either?

You think it’s bad now, what until the EEC parts supply legislation kicks in.

It say's manufactures should supply parts for 10 years from the end of production, then tell the customers to go whistle.

Not that we would think that Renault would do such a thing !!!!!!!!!

can someone please explain to me what actually goes wrong with a flywheel and how do you know its fecked? ie what are the symptoms.

God knows. All I do know is that my clutch was juddering under load. Had this on my integrale and that too had a knackered clutch and flywheel. Mine had lots of movement both forwards and backwards. Had a bit from side to side but that was acceptable.

It gives that bag of bolts sound whilst ticking over, also juddery under load. its the "stop quick" sort of noise.
its caused by the internal damper in the flywheel breaking apart, its filled with a sort of oily goo, that gets oily gone!
when removed there is a test that can be done to do with the amount of sideways movement, but if you think its knackered, it usually is.

Lets try again shall we..

What do you mean by movement???????
That will be sideways movement as the hands of a clock move whilst looking at the clutch face, not the sort of movement after a bad meal tim!

Mine has lots of sideways movement and also lateral movent...in and out type movement. It moves all over the place :s

Shaun has some prototype engineering notes about the phase 1 which read that when Renault added the DMF over a more standard one the car ran poorly - think mainly in performance terms ... After reading this I wondered why they went on to go down the DMF route - obvioulsy after some refinement. I would have thought a light single piece flywheel would have been better - maybe it was to keep the Vee subdued for everyday use :(

Spike,
It's the dealer being tight fisted he does not want to hav the cost of that type of slow moving inventry on his shelf. The problem is that Renault dealers do not talk to each other in the same way that VW and Ford and Toyota dealers do my local Mazda dealer was asked by a friend of mine to get some parts and the delivery time to get them in to the UK from Munich parts centre europe was 5 days so the mazda dealer wnt on the dealers network and got the parts by 17:30 that afternoon.

Nigel.
