How to store a uaed engine long term?

I'm going to buy the engine for my project and store it untill I need it. It may be a year before I get it in the car as I have the body etc to work on first. Whats the best way to store it to prevent it seizing with non-use? Will it be ok in a spare room under central heating rather than left outside covered in a waterproof tarp?
Is it worth.me have the seller, if possible, to use an engine flush with the old oil, drain the oil oil and replace with new, then to run it till warm to hel lube ut up with fresh clean oil? Or a waste of time given the time it may have to stand unused?

Dont leave it outside under a tarp as bit of damp in the cylinders wont do it any favours. Get it in a shed or similar covered storage, bit of oil down the bores and crank it over by hand every few months. Block off any exhaust or inlet open ports with a rub er glove, rag or whatever. Leave the old oil in as you will be changing it before startup.

Keep it inside, a garage would be fine. Block off inlets & outlets, leave oil in it. Turn it manually every so often if you can, if not, no biggy. I took an engine that'd been sat for eight years and put it in my car in 2004-ish, ran it for 30k miles up to 2018 with no problems.
