This was first revealed via a Japanese web publication, speculating that it may be a JDM-only edition limited to 500 cars and that there will be 3 variants:
Web limited SCOOP! Limited to 500 GRMN Yaris debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon

An excerpt via Google Translator:
"GR Yaris RZ The GRMN Yaris, which is tailored based on high performance, is a complete model in which a professional driver participated in the development. Three types are available and a total of 500 units will be sold for a limited time. There are three types in the lineup: base grade (standard car), circuit package pursuing on-road performance, and rally package with extreme running performance on rough roads. Each circuit and rally package is a model developed with a focus on shortening the time in motor sports."

Looks like more details have been revealed, so look forward to seeing what exactly this is when it is announced at Tokyo Auto Salon on 14th January.

Hot off the press…
Must say, given that the GRMN costs circa £14K+ more than the GRY Circuit Pack (aka RZ High Performance or Rallye), I am a bit disappointed at what is on offer. Except for the stiffening of the shell (extra weld points and more adhesive used) plus a revised gearbox (with different gear ratios, but not sure how suitable these are for road driving), all other 'upgrades' can be done retrospectively. For example, the Litchfield handling package has got very good feedback, which is said to improve on-road ride and handling, and, at £2,400 (or £3K fully set up), appears to be extremely good value.

For most use cases the Torsen LSDs are preferred to mechanical (plate-type) LSDs since the former is maintenance-free so will not require rebuilds like the latter.

Having said that, I will definitely look at upgrading the front seats to those gorgeous Recaro bucket seats (Pole Positions with side airbags?), which also appear to address the issue of the standard car's driver's seat sitting a touch too high, and, possibly, the GRMN's Alcantara Steering Wheel,

That looks epic!
The AP4 was built from a standard Rallye (as the Circuit Pack is known in Australia) - news of this broke back in March 2021, before details of the GRMN were known.
