Hotwires Spark Plugs

Just wondering is there any real benefit in upgrading spark plugs? all they do is generate a spark! I think it's a bit like stereo cables, people will think they've got an improvement if they're made out of ultra rare Marsian metal!!

HotWires Spark Plug Wires:

Nology HotWires are the most technologically advanced ignition wires available. HotWires create the most powerful spark possible. HotWires are engineered with a special built-in capacitor, exclusive only to HotWires. This revolutionary design allows energy from the ignition coil to accumulate in the capacitor until the voltage at the spark plug electrodes reaches the ionization point. At that split second point the entire power of the stored spark is discharged at once, creating a spark 300 times more powerful.

But the V6 does not have any HT leads? Are you on about the "silver" plugs?

I have denso Iridiums on mine IQH20, and they do make a difference to standard plugs and well worth the cost to replace (IMHO)

Cool cheers. So are these plugs significantly better than the standard ones?

What kind of differences can one expect from them?

Cheers,
Phil.

Far better than standard and last longer - about 30,000 miles

Faster to get to operating temps. Used by race teams. Denso are the best Iridium plugs you can buy. Got mine from:

Just don't try to adjust the gap- they will break as the tip is so small.

Cool! Is this going to give any performance increase/smoother power delivery?

Also, is there any downside to these plugs? i.e., reliability, overheating, engine strain......?

No downside as far as I can see except for the cost.

Should give a slight increase in power according to Denso's marketing material. I find that the car just seemed a little more responsive after these plusg were fitted. They have been in my V6 now for a year and have no issues whatsoever.

Great thank you very much for your help Nik.

I'm going to buy myself some of these now! Not too bad cost, only £51 for 6 delivered!

Cheers,
Phil.

Not sure I would trust standard plugs to last 48k miles. I think that iridiums for 30k is still a bit much. I tend to change plugs every 2 years if they heve not done the milage as a matter of cousre.

If I remember correctly, the standard ones I took out had multi electrodes?
