HG53 GTF........ 5,400 miles .... £24,995

about time someone started to realise the true potential value of these future classics. early ones are getting on now. 10 yrs or so now.

I used to think low miles was important. But take a bargain priced vee, do a full detail on the paintwork, replace parts that wear such as shocks, clutch, brakes, seats, gear knobs, linkages, ball joints, etc etc etc. Do the work yourself and your invoices are prob going to be under some of the high prices. Moreover, you result in a car that will feel tighter than one with 5000 miles on the clock. That's my route of thought anyway. Of course, someone boring will prob come on and talk about the number of owners, but I think that's a psycological hang up. the only advantage of paying the high price tag, is of course, you in theory dont have the stress of carrying out all that work. I say stress, because some people won't enjoy that kind of challenge. I say in theory, because you are never guaranteed zero stress when buying a car.

I'm all for higher values than lower ones, but I do think there is too much significance on prices. If you are going to drive this car, then it's a waste of money because the only reason it has a higher value is because of the low miles. Even from an investment point of view,it would make no sense to pay this sort of money. There are much better asset classes to put your money. Then again, there is the bonus of actually owning something you can touch, etc, even if you dont drive it. Just as a hobby for example. That's all fine, and the car is a beauty. Believe me, a part of me would love it. But in the real world, in my opinion, it's overpriced.

There will of course, be someone at the end of the bell-curve, who will buy it.

Quite possibly the funniest and most friendliest car club I've ever been a part of. I'm really warming to this place.

Read the bit where i said i 'used' to think! Oh dear....members with +500 posts bullying the guy with <500 posts is it? Your opinion must therefore be far more valid than mine. It's ok, I've learnt my lesson. Don't offer opinions on forums. I'm only allowed to say how wonderful the V6 is, and how expensive it should be. Digging up old posts doesnt prove anything. If you have time to stoop to digging up dirt on people by trawling through old posts to try to win one over then, perhaps you should reconsider your argument. It appears more of an emotional response to do that, rather than a logical one. It's an opinion, not a stated fact. Opinions fluctuate. I'm a big V6 and Renaultsport fan, don't ignore this.

Value is perceived.

I have no problem with anyone wanting to pay the price for that car. It sure looks very nice. My post was about reasons why, perhaps, if you consider other avenues, that the car might not be worth that much when you consider the fundamentals of value. It's an interesting topic for me, I apologise if it causes offense.

No offense taken. I'm sorry you feel bullied.

Well I've got 2494 posts vs. your 629 (again) SIMDOG123 ;). Differing opinions and friendly adult debate is what it's all about on here. Would be boring if everybody always agreed, and thankfully it's only ever been a handful of members who've failed to realize that all voices are equal volume and tried to make theirs louder (though obviously my voice is louder since I'm awesome with my name in red  ;)).

Totally agree Andy, this thread has seen enough mileage.
