Ok got in turned ignition nowt.
turned the key and i hear the fuel pump kicking in then click nowt?
Not even turning over?
Warning lights on dash on and bright as usual.I had the battery on charge last night coz it would not start
yesterday.
I thought it was maybe the battery was goosed but iv checked through a meter and no probs.
So basically everything as normal but no turn over?

Where do I start?Any ideas please guys.

Yeah i have to do that with my old Granada lol
Its a wee bit higher than the 21 tho and I havent got trolly jack to lift it.(and im 18stone of ahem relaxed muscel)
Where is it ? From the front, left or rightside?
When it happens on the Grannie there is loads of clicking like a sticky solinoid

The starter is on the same side as the battery. It's at the back of the engine. You can get to it from the top using a long bar. If not put the car in gear and rock her so the starter move's. Also check the connections on the starter as they are very prone to failing. Again this can be done from the top but its a but of a pita unless your skinny.

Rocking the car in gear wont work. The starter isn't engaged all the time, that's what the solenoid does.
But as Tony said. Battery side, give it a thump and see if that works.

Nice one guys. Hit from underneath with a iron bar and a big bit of wood.
Have to lose weight though cause I could hardly get up.

If that worked then its time for a new or refurbished starter. It's an easy swap 3 x 16mm bolts and she's off. Theres one 10mm (?) Nut on the back that disconnect's the earth strap. I think that's it.

13mm nut on the main wiring connector, a push connector, 3 16mm's on the front and brackets on the back held to the starter & block with 13's, assuming they have been put back on right.

At least I'm trying. Lol. It's been 3 years since I did any work on a 21. I'm just getting back in to it. I knew there is a feed but I couldn't remember if there is an earth.
