Help for a friend please!

A friend put diesel in his 21 by mistake (i wont name and shame!) the engine did run albeit with some backfiring...

He changed the injectors, fuel pump and filter and now its backfiring and missing!

Any ideas as to what damage could have been done?!

I thought if he went back to the original fuel system and kept using it the back firing might clear but that could be risky!

probably just needs running, gently.

totally flush and drain the tank and then run gently with good fuel!

Thanks, i think the fuel system has been gone through... Maybe time will cure it and the newly acquired misfire is an injector.

I can, honestly say it is not a curse of the black pearl! Though she is in dry storage for a few days until i can be bothered to remove the budgie from under the bonnet!
