head bolts

D

Deano

Just checking with you all, when you replace the headgasket should i put on some new head bolts as a rule i know you should, but i want to make sure thats all.......cheers DEANO:icon_confused:

Yes I would have thought so, I believe they stretch as you have to tighten them up and slacken them off, then tighten them up x amount of degrees??? (correct me if I am wrong)

Reuse the old ones.

I've done about twenty or thirty and prob used new bolts twice, maybe three times. Even reused the same bolts twice (third gasket) before.

Grease the threads lightly before you put them in, and make sure the bolt holes in the block are as clean as poss. Screwdriver and some rag pokes down quite well.
