GROUP BUY: Recaro Sportster CS / Trendline Lower Seat Mounts

Jonny

New Member
So after having a really good response to the Recaro Pole Position lower seat mounts I have been asked to design lower mounts for the Recaro Sportster CS seats.

I have attached photographs of the rails which I made for the Pole Position seats, these will be made on the same basis only they will not be side mounted and be fixed underneath the seat.

Here are a few pictures of the brackets before the seat was fitted.

I also tried to take a shot of the difference in height between the original recaro side mount brackets and the custom made brackets with the seat fitted.

This is what they look like with the seat fitted.

Passenger brackets also fitted.

They now sit a lot lower than the standard brackets, much more head room.

I am now offering these as a Group Buy for the Recaro Sportster CS seats, the cost will be £250 plus £15 p+p. This will be for 2 pairs of side mounts which will be fabricated from 3mm mild steel material, primed in a satin black finish so you can paint in whatever colour you wish.

If I can get more than 5 interested people the price will be reduced to £220 + £15 p+p

This price would include design, laser cutting, material, folding, fabrication, prep and painting etc.

The only difference between these and the standard Recaro rails is that I use an M12 bolt for fixing the seat belt to the new frames. I will supply the M12 bolts for these.

I will run this group buy for a couple of weeks and then start to process any orders. This will also be run on the cliosport.net forum.

Will let you know by the weekend...
but I'm a definite maybe!

I don't think the CS is quite 'as bad' as the Pole Positions - plus I'm not particularly tall. I'm all for Vee improvements though - so I'll wiggle my bum in them later this week and make an executive decision! : )

Great work Jonny. :approve:

It's only the passenger seat that feels a little too high in my vee, very rarely carry passengers anyway as I prefer listening to the engine noise than somebody yapping.

I'd be interested to know the distance between the top of the Sportster CS seat-backs and the roof lining when fitted to your mounts, I'll make a decision once that information is available. [smilie=thanks.gif]

Johnny,

Pm me your address & I'll package up my Recaro brackets & send 'em over to you as discussed.

As mentioned, mine are for a LHD but primary measurements & angles will be same of course just opposite folds/bends in the brackets for the left seat & will help if anyone wants brackets for both sides of their car.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Jonny,
Sorry to be a twit - but I've couldn't work out why my CS seating position seemed ok...

NB it's formerly TimV6 Vee.

Pole positions on standard frames are not much lower either mate, u need custom frames to be really low..

Mine feels like a go kart :)

Ive got the custom subframes with mine - you aernt sat up high at all and i find them comfortable!!

As i said before and Brett says - Personal taste..

T

Means I'm out of this group purchase...

Hi Kett,

Any chance of some pics of your subframes/mounts?.....might help Johnny in the fab of his modified version.

I'm dead curious to see how they differ as I am unsure why Recaro went with the mounts they did for the Clio ( compared to much lower CS mounts on other cars ) with the exception of the seatbelt tensioner fixing!

Cheers,

Jim

So I have finally got around to making some real progress with the design of these new brackets. I need another photograph of a seat fitted in the car showing the side with the seat belt tensioner fitted to it. I need to make sure I am not clashing with the seat now that the rails are lower. I know it wont be easy getting a photograph as it is so close to the handbrake cover, even if the seat is out of the car if you can fit the bracket to the seat and let me see the clearance with the bracket fitted to the seat.

If someone with sportster cs seats can get this photograph it would be a great help then I can get these into production in the next day or 2.

The new brackets will be 35mm lower than standard.

Thanks,
Jonny

Amazing jonny

I am in the uk (where the car is) on the 13th. I can the take all measurements photos videos you need.

Let me know your location I could always drive over!!

Test fitting etc... What ever helps.

Thank you

Matt

Hi Matt,

I am actually in Northern Ireland not in mainland UK. Don't think you will be over here lol.

I am intending to fabricate a pair for Jim and send them to him for a trial fit and go from there.

Thanks,
Jonny

Hi Jonny,

These are the best pics i've got, unfortunately they don't show the bracket nearest the centre console in situ, however hey do show the subframe in situ & the pics of the bracket out of the car show how they would fit. I think if you take the holes in the brackets & line them up with the bolts in the subframes in the pics it should give you some idea how close they are once all fitted up, the bracket sits back/is recessed a little but with the seat belt tensioner attached it's a squeeze. There's a pic with the bracket & seat belt tensioner attached to show how it fits together.

Let me know if this is ok, else if you send back my originals, i'll refit the brackets with tensioner & take some better shots.

Cheers,

jim

I have went ahead and put you a set into fabrication mate I will post these out over the next few days to you and if they work then I can get everyone's sorted.

Can anyone confirm if the seat brackets are the same for the 197 clio sportster CS seats as the aftermarket ones from capital seating?

I am really looking forward to these, Jima, let us all know what 35mm lower feels like!

Doesn't sound a lot but in seat terms I've been told it makes a big difference. :race:

Thanks Jonny,

I am in the queue :approve:
