I managed to 'repair' the nick in my CV boot rubber with some superglue. As I do a couple of track days a year I thought it would be best to get a proper fix, so I ended up buying a new drive shaft.
There was a company (ASM Recycling I believe) selling both drive shafts on eBay.
One word of warning. If you get the CV boot grease on your wheel be very careful how you clean it off as it is easy to scratch the wheel as the grease will undoubtedly pick up some grit from the road.
Anything shafty I send to Dave Mac in Coventry. They're pretty good, the only part I had to assist with is a prop centre bearing for my 21 Quadra which was NLA (even though the Scenic RX4 part is IDENTICAL, and plentiful).
