Gordini Convert!

Just to steer you in the way of a turbo, there were only 3399 atmos registered in the UK and the DVLA can only find 25 of them now, with most on SORN so not many on the road.

There are probably around 200 turbo's left so better chance of finding one.

Whilst most parts are readily available there are some which take a lot of hunting down - my atmo has just been off the road for two months as it needed a new exhaust valve. Also HT leads are hard to find so have to resort to making new ones with the old fittings.

To answer an earlier question, I used my atmo as a daily driver for most of last year whilst my wife was between cars and it was great fun.

the gt turbo engine will not fit in the gordini bay. - different flywheel size, clutch , cam, slight block changes, water pump on the wrong end etc etc.
best of getting a basket case and doing it up.

the blue gordini turbo is still up for sale on here i think. - got a roll cage too.

i also think Phildini is still selling his 'le car 2 turbo'....
send the Italian stallion a PM.

Been away a couple of days just a note
'Gordini because of its design and unique features not its power and size! Also a few of us owned these cars first time around, a long time ago :('

Cmon there must be someone.

Sorry Ceebdub

I didn't get my 1979 G5 until 1987 but I did take delivery of my new Raleigh Hustler racer in 1979. (I've still got that as well, must learn to get rid of stuff).

Any other old timersout there :?:

Hey,

It's awesome seeing these promo fotos of the Black Gordini once again.... :D

I bought my first production RHD 5 Gordini in April 1979 and collected it from Paris.

Believe it or not but it was slightly cheaper this way and James Rawlings of Renaultsport, Egham arranged it for me.

The drive back to the coast was awesome too.

And the food .............Yummee ... :)

See all about it in my thread:

Thanks for bringing a smile to my face once again on this wet and somewhat windy November day.

Cheers

Paula

PS. I picked it up on Red French Export Plates and then re-registered her as BJM 553T ( I am pretty sure but it's a long time ago ) ....

I did get the reg no correct.

No Alzheimer's quite yet ....

Searched the DVLA and came up with this.

Does this mean that she could be still around.... :?:

I hope so.

Sounds like it was on the road upto 1988, i would assumed if it had been declared scrap it would of said? Either way been off the road since 88.............

The DVLA site doesn't appear to specify if the vehicle has been scrapped.
I just tried the reg of a car I destroyed & notified as scrapped 20 years ago & it stills shows 1988 as the liability but nothing about it being scrapped. Hope I filled the forms in right :?

Thanks Guys,

Just shows you how useless the DVLA site really is .... :(

Nite

Paula
