Gearbox

Well my 19 cab is off the road again, coming back from a nice long weekend in cornwall, took a hire car as it worked out cheaper, driving back from hertfordshire last night where I left my car, my gearbox started playing up, still in gear when it was supposed to be neutral, locking the front wheels up when trying to pull away from the lights, not being able to remove from 5th at one point, managed to drive 30 miles like this as it was nearly 11pm and didn't want to call the AA to get it recovered, and about 15 miles from home I loose all gears its rattling inside like a bag of marbles.

Has anyone got a gearbox as I am without a car at present :cry:

is it 16v?

I might know someone who is looking to get rid of a 16v box for cheap as it stuck in his garage of 21turbo parts

Yes, it is a 16v, if you could find out that would be great would be easy as well, as got a company branch over that way and might be able to get it over to here with no massive postage cost.

not a problem, the bloke actually works for a haulage company haha, ill call him up for you

he has it but cant speak at the moment, hes going to call me back in about an hour. from what he has told me in the past its from a low milage car - 80k I believe.

I dont know :? just it wasn't what I was after as a spare for my 5, but prefer a 19 gearbox for the 19 so have same ratios

gutted then the jb3 i got is a ph1 which is faster than a ph2 box...

the jc5 is probs nearer the ph2 than the ph1 box ph1 box code is jb3-051

The phase 1 is slower i thought? you just have a higher top end. I get scared at 130 in the convertible let alone any faster :lol:

I know, because most of our members are from the south east area. why not everyone else move over this direction, it will be a lot easier that way

the JB3s and JC5s are so similar they make little difference

There's naff all difference between any of them really tbh. Certainly not enough for most people to tell without watching the speedo.
