Anybody tell me what type of oil goes in the gearbox ? .....

Im away from home at the moment and i get back to dry land on Friday, then a 190 mile drive in the 21 back home, thing is i could'nt help thinking that on the way up to work the gearbox maybe needed some oil in it as i know the driveshaft seals do leak, so now i just wanna be on the safe side and pop in by a garage in Aberdeen / Dyce and get them to top the box up before i head home .... but i wanna make sure they are putting the right stuff in .... lol

ELF Tranself TRX 75W 80, the pucka stuff from Renault. Always use'd it in my 21's in the past and current Alpine's.

bung some atf init some people call it power steering fluid others call it synthetic gear box oil

Good luck getting to the filler plug 200 miles from a garage and tools lol

Dont need luck my man ... lol .... i know of a decent enough garage as you come out of Aberdeen, the AA took me there back in 2005 when a brake pipe corroded on the 21 and pissed all its brake fluid .... i just nipped in and the guy whacked the old girl on the ramps and topped her up ... lol ... 2.5ltrs of gearbox oil it took !!!!!! ....

Infact, she was in the garage today getting the gearbox oil seals looked at, so that maybe getting done soonish .....

Errr can't remember to be honest, it wasn't cheap comapared to "bungin in any old atf M8" maybe 5 quid per litre, you need 3.1 litres or thereabouts.

I suppose you may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere than Renault.
