Garage build

Fall front to back (1:40??) The dimensions are 8m x 6m, as im 1m away fom boundary the roof has to be under 2500 so trusses are a no go sadly.

Slow progress atm as been waiting for steel - got to wait when its coming for free. Building inspector specified 203x133 overkill maybe but it knocks the price down by half for the joists by splitting the span. My back is knackered at the mo so waiting for that to sort itself out but should be making progress real soon as need the roof on before winter kicks in

6.5m x 203x133 ready to go

Trench part dug for wiring will be finished tomorrow (its actually over a spade deep but does not look it in the pics for some reason)

Ordered the 7x2 joists/wall plate/joist hangers etc and they will be here in the morning. Get the joists up within the next week soon have it watertight - got the paslode nail gun ready for action

Afternoon on the roof today got half of the joists on, get it finished tomorrow hopefully if weather is ok. Took ages to drill the 13mm holes for the m12 coach bolts to bolt the timber in the webbing into the rsj - it was like bell metal rock hard. Knacked 3 drill bits even with cutting fluid when i started it last week so bought a drill bit sharpener for the job which worked awesome:D

Trusses ?? No trusses on this roof mate ;) joists only. The joists are stitched in to wallplate/timber in the webbing with 6x 90mm paslode nails each end / joist hangers which is a more than acceptable way of doing it. Only ever seen diy'ers screw them down sadly not proper tradesman:D

624 twist nails later in the joist hangers and we are somewhere near:D get the noggins boshed in and fascia on next week then board it. Not a bad job steady away.

Drive will be done next week hopefully. I have 3 weeks off work no so have the materials on order for the roof covering - see if the weather plays ball and we may have a watertight garage before the end of the year :D
