Full decat system and no emissions light!

My full decat Janspeed system has been on for 3 weeks now and still there's no sign of the emissions light.

GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [smilie=yay.gif]

Also
DEFINATELY more low down torque
Mid range feels a little better too
Should also be better at the top end but TBH I can't tell (need to get her on the rollers)
Much more relaxed cruising as its quieter
And MEGA pops and bangs on the over-run.

SWEET [smilie=cool.gif]

I managed 12 miles before the light came on lol

Sure they haven't taken the bulb out? ;)

Pretty sure Scotty would have mentioned that! ;)

Also pretty sure it comes on and goes off during the ingnition bulb check! ;)

Was yours a mk1?

Peter :D

Good news that Peter re the light not coming on although you may have jinxed it & it'll probably come on tomorrow hehe - exhaust sounded sweet on your last post and full exhaust should make the most of the RS Tuning remap as well :D

Still no light. ;)

Will demo the pops and bangs @ FCS!

Inlet Plenum is next before final remap.... In parallel with new brakes and seats.

I bought it second hand. System is approx £1k new. Fitting is pricey tho as its a big job.

You cannot mix and match Janspeed with the standard parts. You need to buy the complete system either with sports cats or decat.

Did scott remove the Lambda sensors or just tuck them up out of the way?

On my 106 i just left them connected and tucked it up of the way and it kept the light off, I later put one of these round it Lambda cover it stopped it getting dirty etc

There for sale on the GMC motorsport website halfway down the page, under the manifold section on exhaustsGMC Motorsport

Im sure an engineering compant could make you one tho as 106/saxo lambdas are probably smaller

My emissions light finally came on, on the way back from FCS.

I eliminated a long line of SAXOs and it came on. LOL

Not bad tho really if it only comes on after almost a month of driving @ 1000 miles.

I think i'll look into options to check the error codes via the ODB port and reset them. I'd be happy to do that once a month!

Anyone know the easiest way to read / reset the ECU error codes? Laptop, software and cable, or dedicated ODB reader gismo?

K-Tec were selling these at the show, little plug and play, reads you any fault codes, then you can reset the engine management light or service light.

They were £30+VAT

Cheap and cheerful and would do the job without breaking the bank. Certainly sounds like it would suit your needs.

Was tiny thing like a volt-meter reader as well.

I can't find it on their website. :s

Nope its not on there site, but i'm sure if you ring them and say you saw them at the show they can sort you one

Ordered!

Kerching! [smilie=cool.gif]

Its currently only in the 172 section for some bizzare reason! Soon to be updated tho apparently.

Ta Andy! :approve:

Peter 255 - If you had said i would of bought mine along on sunday, with the bucket you borrowed.

You can read the fault and reset it with any OBD2 code reader. There is 1 thing tho if you don't do anything about the cause of the problem it will just come back on.

Example. I run sports cats, so the sensors read the wrong emissions from the cats and hence the light comes on. However i can switch it off using my code reader but will come back on after about 20 miles hence the sensor reading the same signals.

Other than this you could just take the bulb out or put a strip of tape over it if it bothers you that much?

It took about 500 miles for the light to come on and over 3 weeks of driving.

I can deal with reseting every 3 weeks!

TBH i'm not overly bothered. And now I can check for other error codes too.

As Ali has said i'm sure you can get them cheaper on fleabay. BUT its easier this way and i have support if it doesn't work etc.

Thanks for the offer Steve but i didn't need it till the way back! ;)

2 minute job.

2 Codes seen
Cat efficiency bank 1
Cat efficiency bank 2

(or something like that)

Both erased.

Light off. Sorted! [smilie=cool.gif]
