Fuel pump problems again...

G

Guest

So thought i sorted my fuel pump problem where it would just blow the fuse every few hundred metres.... But the problem is kinda back....

Sometimes when i corner right the car will judder (starving of fuel) and earlier it just blew the fuse! Now i've checked all the wiring by eye (i know not the best) but i dont have a multi meter to investigate further. I dont think my immobiliser is causing the problem either.

Could my pump be on the way out?

If the pressure is too high or too low would it blow the fuse?

Could it be my fuel filter needs replacing?

My valver ECU was worse at blowing fuses and my williams was fine up until recently....

hi or low pressure will not blow the fuse as it wont be drawing any more current sounds to me like you have an intamitant (spelling soz) fault on that circuit keeps shorting out to earth mate

Could the relay be allowing too much voltage through? I know its a problem between the fuse and the pump itself. I've wiggled all the wires and it doesnt happen. Nor does it happen on a bumpy road just corning when going down to lower revs.

not a chance with the relay mate there rated at a certain wattage what are the earth straps like at the back of the lights as these give negative to fueling system . happens when cornering hmmm check them earths clean them up

Ill check tomorrow. Could it be my immobiliser? As i traced the wire from the fuse box, its a large red wire which goes into my immobiliser and then a small cable comes out of that and joins it to right of the pedals. Is the yellow wire the positive one?

not sure mate u need to get a multi meter there like a fiver will save you so much hassle

Maybe but if the fault isnt there all the time i dont see how its going to help :(

I would start with all the earths, clean them all up ect then try again.

dont see how it'd be an earth problem to be honest. It's obviously earthed from the pump as its running. On my valver ECU the Immobiliser/ECU light flashes when it happens but it doesnt with my Williams ECU...

Where is this earth at the rear lights?

take the light off and its tag on to the shell mate if youve got a loose earth mate it will slowly arch out and cause either the pump etc to stop working or blow the fuse this may be the cause of ur intamitant fault as i said before

The short is deffinatly near the front. Havent had time to check the earth on the lights. Hit small pothole front passenger side and it starved it briefly but didnt blow the fuse. Will only be able to have time to look at it at the weekend!

definately earth mate id put money on it just wanted to test my theory yesterday so hooked my loom up had earths on tep in back started car up took earths off killed fuel pump and car was gonna die pushed it to shell and sparked its arse off hense arcing then kicked the pump back in bet i could of got it to blow

If its near the front the earth for the fuel pump isnt there or do you mean the power source cable is earthing around there? I really dont fancy taking all the dash off again :(

Well its dead. Doesnt even prime at all now. The wires arent getting any voltage at all and im just lost as to what to do. Im not very good with electrics at all and the haynes wiring is completely different to mine.

Earthing is fine there's no resistance at all. All my wires are different. Their should be a white wire coming from the fuse box, mines a large thick red with a white line. It goes inside to behind the dash to a plug where 2 more large but smaller red wires join. It goes to the ignition as far as i can tell. Im too pissed off to explain!

Im only getting 6.2v through to the immobilisor and to the pump and not 12v but when i run a 12v feed it still doesnt prime... any ideas?

have u tested the feed at various points (fusebox, relay box) etc... for voltage?
