fuel air locking??

the odd time when opening the fuel cap to put fuel in i hear a release of air as if it has pressurised in the tank (possibly heat causing this?) but when the fuel goes in and i start the car, the fuel gauge sometimes registers as though ive put nothing or very little in it...so i go to again and fill it up only to find that the fuel has 'magically' reappeared plus i have the new lot of fuel on top!! so was thinking possibly the first lot of fuel was air locked then pushed through once i put more fuel in.

Any one else experienced this or am i just thinking to much?? [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I think this is fuel venting or something is blocked?

Basically i had fuelling problems and ClarkieV6 said check after a drive if you get pressurisation cos the fuel vent is not working so you could PM him

fuel vent then...sounds very feasible.

Working correctly.

If you understand the fuel system no problem

you will always get a little pressure released, but there is a tank vent which is a problem and gets blocked.
