front underbody clean up! lets see yours

Right so Ive decided my first job on the vee would be to tidy up the arches and redundant engine bay! As with any new car you seem to learn more and more about it the deeper you get in haha but maybe thats a good thing!
So I thought id start with the arches but thought id dig deeper by taking the bumper off only to find there attached to the wings with sealent!
Previous owner undersealed the car which isnt a bad thing but I prefer a clean underbody the same colour as the shell! Anyway a few pics

Not sure if the black slam panel is as it came or something thats been added over the years. Came off easily enough though!

Anyway few questions!
How should I do the arches? Im dubious over using spray cans but at the end of the day its not the same as outside bodywork, would a clear protector over the top of this be sufficient?

Where can I get ap racing caliper decals from? Ive seen ones o here in yellow which I like, was also thinking of coating the springs the same colour. The rest black possibly.

Is the subframe hard to remove? Whats in the way?

I might have a set of those ap stickers (in yellow) squirrelled away somewhere... however they were a simple ebay purchase. I have little doubt that they are easy enough to still purchase new.

the link you put looks amazing i dont think ive got quite the patience to go as far as he did! i wouldnt dare drive it also!

a quick search on ebay left me with nothing at the time. im in no rush however!

Lol thanks James, be worned anyone it a very additive and expensive game as every time you do something there is something else until you have done the lot and there is a lot more that u think ! Then when u have finished u don't want to get it dirty again so it sits in a bubble in the garage.

James judging from what ive seen of yours. No effort is needed it looks immaculate!

Chris your right I dont want to get to a point where im too afraid to drive it yet rusty parts are always an eyesore! Im getting on with it bit by bit but it takes patience. Ive had to walk away a few times out of fear of rushing the job.

Used the grinder on rusty parts and re coated Which have come up nice enough. Not to the perfection chris showed but for the cost of a can of paint and some time im happy

so a little more of an update. its coming along bit by bit. kinda need to get a move on with it really as other stuff needs my priorities soon. its been a good experience having a newly owned car up and in bits I feel ive learnt a lot about it

anyway a quick before pic again





like I said previous its nothing compared to chris level but then its not been too costly just time consuming. ive got a whole list of further stuff I want/need to do but in planning on keeping the car long term so theres no real immediate rush. should all be completed shortly. dying to get it back on the road!

Cheers people! im happy how it all looks now currently. itll be interesting too see how it stands up against use and cleaning.

got the arb re fitted yesterday. painted that red as something different which may disgust the purist but its easily reversed in the future if i do so wish

really need to source some arch liners however!!!!
