Front tyres - 205/40 or 215/40?

Hi guys

I need to get new fronts. It currently has 215/40 Toyo Proxes on, which are 10 years old! [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I ordered 2 Pilot 4's in the same size, 215/40 the other day. But I can see that it should actually be 205/40?

Should I stick with the size that is on the car, or go for the 205/40's? I can see quite a lot of people have 215/40's.

Cheers

Josh

The difference, especially on a non-driven wheel is negligible. Your tyre is a little under 5% thinner across the tread and the profile adjustment will be (215/100*40) - (205/100*40) which is 86 - 82 = 4mm tyre height difference... thats less than new to old tread depth.

As long as the Clio ABS system doesnt do a freakazoid (on the 172 if you run 40 profile front and 45 rear or vice versa it goes mental and turns ABS and traction off) you'll not notice really.

Fantastic, thanks guys! The help from everyone on here is always amazing. Will stick with what I have ordered. Excited to get some fresh sticky Pilot 4's on.

If anyone is interested, Asda tyres have them for a really good price at the moment. £251 for 2 Pilot 4's fitted. Use code 1401234567 at checkout.
