Front discs from Apec

So are we saying APEC have produced the correct disks or simply copied ones which are incorrect ?

Although readingt the post by Sam, this implies some Vee disks were copied but as yet have not been fitted ?

And finally, are APEC saying they can supply genuine 'sized' disks for fitment to the front of the Vee (materials quality not confirmed) for £47.40 + Vat each ?

We haven't seen them and Sam hasn't fitted them yet though ... Can't see the part number on the APEC site though the thread suggests they are supplied non-direct only ... and can't find any google searches on dsk 2779 disks ...

Evidence is what is needed, so will be good to get final validation though :approve:

Great stuff Sam, I guess until they are measured or fitted we won't know for certain but you would assume from what you have done they are correct ... but given the history of false alarms and the massive price difference this almost seems to good to be true - and you know what they say about that ...

Great stuff Sam, will certainly be a great option for everyone ...

IIRC most of the disk suppliers take cast blanks and machine them to suite specific applications as they don't tend to have foundry capabilities - this means that sourcing the blanks at the correct starting dimensions to allow machining is the key thing. Then it just becomes a tooling and machining exercise to get to the correct dimensions i.e. thickness, offset, diameter, stud and spigot holes etc.

If there are foundries that make the correct sized cast blanks, and these can be sourced easily, then bingo I am not even sure if AP cast their own disk blanks, but would expect so. Hopefully then APEC either cast their own or have found a source.

2 part disks setups are far easier to deal with as you can cast a big flat disk and machine it to any requirements, and also machine bells easily from a billet ... making these two parts in isolation allows manufacturers then to mix & match existing disks and bells to suite an application or simply machine one or more of the two parts to the new requirements. There was a group but for a disk/bell setup which resulted in a Vee specific combination which can now be bought - I think this was compbrake. These are far more expensive at around £400 !

If you do please make sure to specify they are curved vane OEM. Although straight vane would be better than none.

By coincidence we have an account with MACCESS who are the main distributors of APEC discs so if they are correct we should be able to get them cheaply.
They are a low grade disc though but the GTA ones seem to work OK in everyday use.

Here are the photos sorry but the tape measure was a bit faded, you should be able to make them out.

Weight wise I didn't get the scales out but when doing the old 'lift test' I couln't tell the difference.

Discs came today look spot on.I am in the motor trade and use apec all the time have had no probs with any components from them.Got them throw my local factor who is a agent for apec i use them alot so got more discount

Sounds even more promising, the final proof will be fitting. The pictures look great from a diameter, thickness and pad area, the final critical dimension is the offset - from the inside hub mating surface to both disk surfaces ... then bingo ...
