I have won on ebay some discs, brand new made by the company below,it was listed saying:

You are buying a set of REAR Dimpled and Grooved discs for a

Renault Clio 3.0 V6 2000 - 2005
Size 310mm x 28mm

when i bid i thought they were a pair for front and a pair for the rear, having now checked i see i have won 2 sets(4 discs) all for the rear
I have checked with the seller, listed below
Performance Discs
UNIT 2 SOUTHERN INDUSTRIAL ESTATE
SOUTHERN STREET
LANCASHIRE
Greater Manchester
M28 3QN
United Kingdom

I asked him does he have any front he can swap for a set of the rear i have won and i will pay extra etc to get a full set,he has now replied saying as far as he knows they are all the same front and rear? is this correct?
My car is at home so i can not check it out?
My car is a mk1?
Many thanks in advance,i know its my mistake for not reading the listing correctly,so ill just take all 4,but obviously it would be a bonus if they were the same?

Oh dear :(

I hope you haven't been misled by someone who don't know their arse from their elbow. Front and rear disks are not the same and, AFAIK, every after market seller of V6 brakes on e-bay is selling disks which are not suitable and are therefore incorrect.

The seller may be genuine enough to realise they have made a mistake ...but with comments like 'as far as he knows they are all the same front and rear? is this correct?' I suspect the seller is far from clued up ...

There is no 'cheap' option for V6 discs ... you have to pay a decent wedge to get the right ones - front are Renault only unless you go for one of the 'reliable' alternatives such as the recent group buy Stephen Dell did ...

i won them on saturday and have not paid for them yet, they were wait for it £12.50 for 1 pair, they also had an auction for the same set on a buy it now for £179.99.
The link for the ended buy now items front and rear discs are below, dont know if it will work or not? (it has for me)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

i have been away all weekend so have not had time to call them but will do so some time today?
it seems strange to me that they had listed a set for the front and a set for the rear on a seperate listing?
dont know if they were going to send the same or send different ones, but when he emailed back he says he thinks they are the same?
The seller has a high feed rating, sold 1190 items and has 99.4 positive rating?
I know i should have read listing so will buy them,i would obvioulsy be more happy if they were to fit ;)

Not being funny (and it's not particularly relevant to your current predicament) but why oh why are you trying to scrimp and save on the one area that is on your side when it comes to the car not killing you??

Assuming it's not a typo I would never, ever put £12.50 discs on my car, or any car for that matter!!

I can see why you want to save money but my advice would be to try and haggle with RPD over some OEM discs not fudge it and potentially kill yourself.....

The discs retail for £179.99,as i said above, they do not retail for £12.50.
I guess they just wanted to get rid of some discs so put a listing up with no reserve and no starting price would move some discs.
Ebay is always a place where you can ,as i guess you all know get a bargin.i saw the sellers feedback etc and thought for that ammount of money, give it a go,i only spotted them at the last few minutes of the listing so i thought for £20 see what happens.
I have not fitted the discs,if i thought they were no use or suitable for the car when i got them i would not fit them,£20 only lost,no big deal.all i wanted to know was if anyone could give a little advice on front and rear discs being the same fitting etc

FRONT BRAKES (in mm)
Slave cylinder diameter 41.3 & 38.1
Diameter of discs 330
Thickness of discs 30
Minimum disc thickness 28
Thickness of pads (including support) 17.75
Minimum pad thickness (including
support) 9
Maximum brake disc run-out 0.5

REAR BRAKES (in mm)
Slave cylinder diameter 57
Diameter of discs 300
Minimum disc thickness 22
Thickness of pads (including support) 18
Minimum pad thickness (including
support) 10
Maximum brake disc run-out 0.5
MASTER CYLINDER (in mm)
Diameter 25.4

Fair enough. So you paid £12.50 but they were priced 'buy it now' at £179.99. Got it!! :)

I'd still be wary of discs from E-Bay in general. So many potential pitfalls for something so important. From what you've said the seller sounds like he doesn't have a clue. I'd try and wiggle out of it because he's spouting rubbish when he says 310mm discs fit the rear; they're 300mm rear and 330mm fronts from memory. As previously said you can't really buy fronts other than those made by Renault. RPD will sort you out with some (slightly) cheaper or wait for another group buy (what I'm personally doing!!)

Personally, I'd just wang the ones you've bought back on E-Bay and go OEM. Maybe drop Stephen Dell a PM in the hope that he still has some lying around viewtopic.php?f=23&t=13621

i have just spoke to the seller and said they should be 300mm not 310mm for the rear,he says his 2 books says they will fit,i asked if he has sold any b4 and he says yes,he then says if i dont want them he will send me a cancellation on ebay, which he now has,all sorted [smilie=thanks.gif]

i have spent the last week phoning all local motor factors and every book they have says clio v6 phase 1 are 310 x 28 mm
i took mine off and measured them at 330 x 30 mm
why are all the brake companys so wrong.
has my clio got bigger or upgraded brakes?
also who is the cheapest.
cheers phil

Phil yours are the correct one's pal.

The original prototype v6 had 310mm discs on it before it went into production.
