Front and rear bumper mesh (Phase 1)

Will

New Member
I've tried searching but so far I haven't been able to find a concrete answer to my question, So I thought I would try asking (hopefully I have chosen the correct part of the forum). But Basically I was wondering if it is still possible to get the mesh for the front and rear bumpers on a Phase 1 V6 from Renault (or any other specialist for that matter)? As one of the previous owners decided to remove them from mine, and being a bit of a perfectionist I'm looking to replace them.

Any Information would be greatly appreciated; as it would let me know whether I'm going to have to search for a set of salvaged parts or not.

Thanks,

Will.

The mesh comes with the complete bumpers and not listed as a separate part.

Breakers yards or give JoshyDee a shout maybe. See viewforum.php?f=132

Thanks for the quick reply, I had worried this might be the case, oh well time to get searching and asking around.

Bill Patchall got me a load of the stuff ages ago. Turned out he got it from a garden center local to him. It was 100% exactly like the OEM stuff. Same spacing and the same thickness. Might be worth looking around in more unusuall places lol

Sounds like a good idea :approve: Only trouble is I'm not sure of the spacing/thickness.

Ok, off the top of my head it is something like 11mm. I also sprayed mine black which obviously added to the thickness of the wire. I should imagine it be best to spray it a very dull silver to achieve the OEM look.

Hi Will,

When our backend was repaired, the repairer said he couldn't get hold of the mesh anymore, so I plumbed for Ph2 grills :approve:

I too have seen almost an identical mesh in either B&Q or Homebase ;)

Woody.

Right, sorry to bring this back up as it's been a little while since anyone last posted but I have had some luck [smilie=yay.gif] in sourcing what appears to be the right mesh. I couldn't have done it without the help of all who have posted here with suggestions and those who have very kindly replied to my PM's (you know who you are :approve: ).

I just have one final question, was the standard mesh painted black from standard or is it just a plain metal finish, I have looked at various pictures but it is hard to tell for sure as in some of them the mesh has corroded slightly.

Any further info would be great, I've also looked in the official book about the Phase 1 but again it’s hard to tell.
